Hi Guys,

I will try and give as much info as I can and if i miss any details that affect value please let me know, thanks.

Ok so:

  • The head came off a 1293cc engine built for hillclimb events.
  • It has heavy duty double valve springs, bronze guides and has had porting and polishing performed on it.
  • It had 1.5.1 rockers fitted.
  • It has a bypass plug/blocker fitted to the thermostat end, this was fitted to heat the thermostat end quicker to avoid the inevitable colder on one side issue. To me this was an important mod when I purchased the engine as I didnt want a wonky head.
  • The engine was running prior to disassembly, when taken off I made sure the correct loosening sequence was performed

The head has these numbers stamped on it:

OSC . UK

0272

SQ.1.NL

Finally here are some photos.

At this moment in time I am unsure If i want to sell, it depends on what work needs doing to the head. Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give me

Difficult to value as you don't know the extent of modifications or the age and general condition of the head, ie vale guides, valve and spring condition etc.

However, stamped letters and numbers MAY idicate - OSC as Oselli Engineering and 0272 could mean February 1972, in which case it's an old one.

Cooperman on here may be able to help with identification.

Thanks for the info, especially the code identification as I had so many Chinese whispers about the engine it was attached to   What you have said fits with the most convincing one, so thank-you
