Hi im planning on doing the conversion to my 76 clubby. Im looking at all the options for subframe. if I use the standard metro frame can I still use the ten inch wheel conversion? I am aware this widens the track of the front but how do people widen the rear to the same track? Also if I wasn't to use the metro subby how hard is it to modify the original with lining up in mind. How do you know where to put the engine in the frame?
1.4 K Series Question.

Yeah I've been looking through them but can't find anyone with dimensions or detailed pics of subframe and how it's built. I found one that had pictures as they went long but it didn't look very strong considering the power going through it. They had taken almost all the material out of the box section for the alternator belt to clear but didn't add any additional bracing :/
Have a look through mine there is a link in my sig below and here it is on 16v

Most frames that people build are one offs so are just made to fit the engine in the car like mine so long as the bottom arms clear the gearbox and the top arms are somewhere close to the engine mounts and it fits under the front then your golden
Make yourself a jig up to keep all the main points straight and to keep the towers aligned

would the 4 pot 7.5 brakes be sufficient or should I go for 8.4 brake set up?

The 7.5 4 pots are far better than standard 8.4 unless you go for 4 pot 8.4 vented as on the metro/mini turbo

Can I take the 1.4 out of a k series'd metro?
As long as you ask for the owners permission to do so first is this a trick question?

you will need the ECU, key fobs and 5AS to go with it.
