This shows the power of searching on this site! Replaced the indicator relay with one that doesn't "tick" and wanted to work out how to wire in a cheap piezo buzzer. Thanks to Yoda's post above, wired it across the terminals of the relay and now I know when I've forgotten to cancel the indicators...

This should be fairly straightforward. Get your 12V buzzer with 2 wires. Connect 1 wire to earth (the -ve one if the buzzer requires a certain polarity). Then connect the other wire to 2 further wires (effectively making a Y peice) and connect 1 to the LH indicator circuit and 1 to the RH indicator circuit. That way the buzzer will receive a full 12V to work and will not have to try and pass over 3A of current that goes through the flasher unit. The extra current on the flasher unit caused by the buzzer will be small and so will gave a negligible impact on flasher speed. You will have noticed however that this effectively shorts the LH and RH circuit so leaving it like this will mean that all the indicators light up together. So all you need to do is place a diode in each of the wires from the LH circuit and the RH circuit to the buzzer meaning current can't flow from one circuit to another.

Could you connect it to the indicator light in the dash? If only one should only need one connection?

Just a couple of options for Indicator Buzzers;-

CBS have these  http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/indicator-buzzer   however, be warned, these are LOUD, I use them together with my Oil Warning Lamp. They come with Diodes for connecting to the Indicator Circuit.

Spiyda (no relation to me!) has these   https://www.spiyda.com/magento/index.php/vehicle-electronics/other-vehicle-electronics/flasher-unit-for-led-lights-88.html  I have a few here, but haven't had the chance to try them yet.

You could connect it to the light in the dash, however it would still require the 2 connections, as the light in the dash effectively bridges the LH and RH indicator circuits. When 1 circuit is energised it earths through the indicator lights of the other.

Better to pick up the buzzer feed direct off the flasher unit out terminal

Thread Revival!!

Well in the end I followed Ethel's suggestion & wired two separate buzzers in "head to toe" across the L & R bulb circuits behind the dash. They're both still going strong two years later & I no longer forget to cancel my indicators either!

Result!!

As I said, I've wired mine straight across the flasher relay and all seems to be well. Easy to fit, all of a minute's work to wire up and test...

I have a 1993 SPI and I built the attached simple indicator buzzer circuit that connects between the flasher unit green / white wire under the dashboard and a screw on the side of the heater casing for the ground wire. I have given an RS item number for a suitable piezo buzzer. The 9.2V zener diode and 10K potentiometer are easily obtained as one-off items from ebay. I used a red ring spade crimp connector for fitting under the heater screw and a red quick splice with a red blade crimp for the connecting to the green / white wire. The pot with a switch could be used if the buzzer is required to be switched-off completely. Even at the lowest setting of the pot, the buzzer will still sound at a low level.

About a year ago i got a flasher that beeps on ebay. Just plugged it in under the dash where the old one was. Works like a charm. I think they still have them. If you do a search a number of places have them.
