Hello okc78,

I am so sorry for the late reply I've been extremely busy.

What you have told me is right the car is Aconite as the paintwork is slightly lighter to that of Black Tulip like you said

Its taken me a long time to identify the colour of my car, even sent off for a BMH certificate but it did not have the original colour documented on it which is why I had no clue on where to start but found something close enough to it!! Many thanks for that and you've been a huge help to me, now when I finally decide to respray the car I can do it to the original factory colour whoo!!

Work should be getting back under way soon, I have purchased the rear boot skin panel and the boot hinge panel has just come today, it will be nice to get stuck in again hopefully this time its consistent and touch wood the bodywork will be completed this year  :-)

Been a while since Molly has had any work done she's started to gather dust!!

We now have the boot repair panel and hinge panel already have the rear valance, rear valance corner repairs... May need some lower rear corner repair panels but they're pricey at £24 per pair, might be worth just fabricating them, the lower right one has an unusual key thing wonder what that did maybe something to disconnect the battery. The rear subframe doesn't look too promising will possibly have to replace that, managed to get a picture of the 12" wheels thought they were Metro Turbo alloys but look like 80s Mayfair ones they'll do for now.

okc78 is right Molly was originally Aconite and by looking at her rear cards you can see they were originally Sorrel which is the interior a mini of this colour would have had, so she will be finished in Aconite not Black Tulip  :-)

PS - Have had to upload via thumbnails as my photobucket is playing up!!

Hey you are following my project, so thought I would have a look at yours,

Looking good, you have got a lot of rust on the back there

Also how do you get your welds so large / built up without burning through? , as soon as I get a good build up going it just gets a little to much and burns through

You keeping it the purple colour, that will be a real nice clubman

Have fun

Marcus

Thank you Marcus and yeah there's a lot of rust but I'm looking forward to getting stuck in again. I have paid a friend to do the metalwork/welding so I'm not too sure how he does it but uses an old MIG welder if that helps.

I planned on keeping the car as original as possible but unfortunately I've had to build her from the parts that were avaliable to me and that I could afford

Sorry guys I can't believe it's been nearly 7 years since I last posted here. My health went a little down hill after my last post then I started a new job and life just took over!! Regretfully I sold her in May 2017 to a chap in Brighton and the car was fully restored by 2019. I will rework this thread very soon and just update everything again picture wise. I only have one picture of the car restored as I have since lost contact with the current owner but bare with and I will update this thread within the next few days.

After nearly 8 years from starting this thread... to my 7 year inactivity.... it's time to finally bring some closure here.

On the 20/05/2017 I sold my beloved 1275gt. She hadn't moved or had any further work done since 2013, although certain parts had been ordered in between that time with the last being a set of 5x12 alleycat wheels which I still own!! The new and current owner came all the way from Brighton to recover Molly, and unfortunately I have since lost contact with him :-(

I will first post up the pictures of her leaving in 2017 as this was a sad day and also the first time she'd seen a spec of rain since 2013!! It's always easy to look back and regret certain decisions after but I had never reflected for all these years until now. But at the time it was the right thing to do...

Fast forward 3 years later to May 2019 I checked to see how the new owner was getting on. And what do you know, she's finally done!! Molly was restored slightly differently to how I had imagined her i.e finished in Aconite with as many of the period correct details as possible but hey, she's finally back on the road and aslong as the new owner is happy then that's all that matters!! Fair play to him for doing what I never could. Some of you may recognise her from London to Brighton 2019 :-)
