Could do it at home depending on your experience.

Remove the head gasket. Have a look at the valve. If this is the first time you have done this then deafo not for you to do....

Check piston.. Clean it thoroughly and inspect for wobble...(technical term) if this is news to you again deafo for someone else to do...

Good luck either way..

As mentioned before.. If it is a 998, consider upgrade to a 1275.. May cost you but power increase will be worth it and replacement canbe done in 45 minutes..( did this before across country run)

Again good luck...

you should deffo give it a crack then,

pretty easy to get a mini head off... manifolds of (5 nuts) top rad hose and heater hose off, rocker cover off, head nuts off, rockers off, push rods out, head off.

you should be able to get the collets out and the spring off, then use a drift to see if it will com out, I reckon it will.

Cheers bud once its out and i can inspect it if it looks to be straight what should be done then , if its bent i take its a case of a new guide and valve

basically yeah,

with the valve out, lay the stem on a table/flat surface and roll it... its amazing how small a bend this will show,

if the bend is small you should  get away with the existing valve, but if you do replace the guide the seat will need recutting, a job for an expert,

if there is an obvious reason why it was sticking that can be rectified then yes....

if the valve stem is all marked then it'll need replacing, fortunatly mini valves are only a few quid each.

i was just driving down the road about 40 ish in 3rd/4th , i then went to accelerate and it started to miss so i pulled in to the side , tuned the engine off checked all connections and tried to start it up again but without any throttle it would not start and eve on full throttle it would not rev above 1k rpm and its the 3rd valve along going from thermostat side of the head
