footman james have always been good with me too, they are only around teh corner from me so i go in personally to pay for my insurance and make any changes, the staff on reception know me by my first name now, infact one recognised me whilst shopping the otehr week!

the only problem i have with them is that they once removed the wrong car from one of my policies, which i didnt realise until teh police stopped me to tell me!

Age has a lot to do with it. I'm 37 and I've been with FJ for 13 years and they have always been great with me. I have 4 cars on the policy with unlimited mileage/ breakdown cover etc and my wife as a named driver and it works out at about £132 per year for the policy :) I insure the wife's SPi on a modern policy purely to enable me to drive my family/ mates cars 3rd party and that's only about £135 fully comp. Admiral and Direct line to multicar policies so it may be worth checking them out

so you pay £135 for 4 cars?

Yes :)

You would like to think with someone as old as you Yoda ( what is it now at least 500 or 600 years) you would get it for free??? Mark you that light sabre maybe an issue if you get a dose of road rage????

My age? concern of yours is not, my light saber (get the spelling right ) concern you it may.

But his feet wouldn't reach the brakes so he might not have much no claims bonus!

Brake pedal, my mind control it does. Fj classic policies, no NCD they use so it matters not my young padewan.

I guess it has a lot to do with your postcode as well as your age/ driving experience. For many years my policy was about £90. I'm also classed as a professional driver HGV/ PCV so I think that comes in to it aswell

try calling a classic specialist like footman james and talk to them nicely.

A classic insurance specialist understands that you need a collection of cars insured (all classics ) and that you can only drive one at a time. You should be offered a policy that covers all the cars at a single premium and each added car costs a fee to cover the extra paperwork. Each car has its own certificate and is treated as a single car. You will not receive any no claims discount for this service and they will not take any into account.

If you want to cover modern cars as well, then a fleet poliy would be more suitable, but a fair bit more expensive.

I run a classic policy for the mini's, and a modern single car policy on a Vauxhall Astra, this allows me to dive any of my own cars, my wife can drive the Astra as a Spouse and i can drive anyone elses car on third party only cover. I have found this works perfectly for us so far. But i am now considering taking a fleet policy for the business and registering all the vehicles and all the drivers in my family, so my Son will also benefit from this service as he wishes to have two cars available for him to drive.

Good luck, but dont forget to Google for other classic insurers for other quotes. At your age ( yes, i peeped ) you should be fine.

Try Hagerty, my Pickup is modified (not drastically but is not standard) and they cover that with an £8k value plus a Mini City and a Boxster for less than £400 per year. The Minis on their own would be less than £200. I added a RSP at one point and the premium only went up by £35. You do need a normal car insured seperately as a daily driver.

Bit late to this, but try these guys: http://www.heritage-...-car-policy.cfm They offer a multi car policy for households with multiple classic cars, they also offer discounts for members of clubs, so if you're in any MINI clubs or anything, you get a better price.

Try Tradex they have fleet car policies. I'm with them and have all my cars plus Mrs shiftys Picasso as well.

Every so often you mention this lot and if I'm near a renewal I try to speak to them but they've never actually called me back.
