Thats not a bad project you have there. The rusted parts at the rear window you are worrying about are the waist rail and rear quarter not all that bad really

Yes mate both panels can be bought for the usual mini spare outlets. Google will be your friend find the part on minispares as they are well described then google to find the best price

The first car I bought was a MK3 Escort from a mate who had run the engine out of oil and seized it up. I gave him £20 for it and an engine from the scrap yard cost me another £100. I never drove the car as I was only 16 but sold it for £750 and bought my first car my little FOK. I drove the arse out of that as it was a time before speed cameras and camera phones.

It did not take long to rip the engine apart and rebuild it. Then I thought beige was a bit boring so borrowed a mates garage for a bit of BRG action.

hello people..
I hope you all had a good relaxing weekend and a mighty fine bonfire night :)
anyways......UPDATE TIME
first of all I need your advice.. I want the best possible paint job I can get and wondered whether I should sand to bare metal or just spray over what I got?? cheers in advance

I spent the weekend sanding and refurbing parts
first the starter motor
BEFORE

80% DONE

basically I've sprayed bits of black on it now but I ain't got a picture........ sorry
as you can see I've sprayed the ignition coil too..
I really didn't take many pics as my iphone was full but I will take a few more ASAP
I'm currently doing a driveshaft.. it's sanded(ish) at the moment but I'm gonna take it to pieces and work from there
not loads of progress but it's all good

If you can, it's a good idea to sand blast the whole shell as you'll always get better results when painting on bare metal, it'll also remove any any surface rust.

If you can't get it blasted, then sanding to bare metal will be as good but just take longer.

sandblasting isn't an option really on my budget.. gonna try and put most of my money into parts and do the work myself :)

An electric sander with some coarse paper will have that paint off in no time. Or an angle grinder with one of those paint remover things.

I agree.. I spent about 20 minutes on thescuttle and got to this

I didn't really get much done today as I had to help my uncle with his car.. but I did get a chance to refurb a driveshaft..
only took it to peices, cleaned and regreased joints and sanded / sprayed visable metal so it looks snazzy..
so here's the picture you whores are all dying to see

not perfect but for a quick job I'm pleased

That rough finish left by the sanding will be an excellent key for the primer, so it should adhere really well
