I used the m machine version of this panel I got from somerford, and it was an excellent fit. the magnum panels are extremely poor quality and fit.

Upwards and onwards with the welding

Tacked in place

Welded fully and ground back flush

The inside got a dose of welding and grinding as well

The floor pan corners got a workout

 

And the finished sill

As Dan says Ben they are M Machine. They are not bad as it goes, just the floor pan section was a bit of a pain.

I won't need the whole length as the new front pans have inner sills as part of the floor.

I would only need the back half from the cross member back so perfect!

What did you use to get the welds so flush flapper / roloc discs ?

That section of the front floor pan came out really well

I grind down with a standard grinding disc then use a flapper wheel followed by a roloc disc. I'm happy with the floor now but it was a faff to get right.

Well before i finish up the arch close out area it was time to investigate the rust that was on and around the little felt mounting plate on the floor.

 

under that was more rust so a couple of surgical cuts later i got this

 

then out with the fresh metal to fabricate this

 

then it was welding time

 

followed by a little bit of grinding and a splash of zinc rich primer

 

Happy days so now i know that end is good.

Due to a minor hiccup by M machine which has been sorted by them i had to move onto the doorstep.

 

This particular magnum panel was on a par with the rest of them........... poor so the folds were pretty bad but the width of the panel was actually good. So that was something.

 

I then used a combination of thick Ali bars, metal blocks and panel beating hammers to sharpen the folds to a point where i now considered it useable. So on it went.

 

Actually came up well apart from a slight bow. This will get sorted when i fit the outer sill.

Nice work on the door step

Fitted one to the lads car the other day NIGHTMARE it took ages the back of it where it bends up was the worst

So hats off to you for getting that to fit mate.
