Hmmm, how very very intresting, don't suppose you have a wide angled shot do you, or is it that top secret what he's upto :shifty: .

Jammy little bugger in his Workshop :mmkay:  Hahha

Apart from the obvious things all of the external panels he has made from scratch, no FG just metal of various types.

It's like Project Binky Mk2!!!!

This one has been around for quite some time before Project Binky though. Now if Alan could have made it all fit in a standard length mini then that would have been something.

Now that sort of fabrication is something that you just don't see enough anymore.

I lost out on a job last year because the owner of the workshop advertised for a panel beater and when i turned up and he explained what sort of thing he wanted doing (much like above) I had to explain that i'm only trained and have experience in crash repair and light restoration and subsequently missed out.

This generation of new panel beaters are only being trained to the latest standards and this just doesn't include any real fabrication and very few get the chance to have a go at this sort of thing.

I plan to learn the skill at some point but it's just getting the chance. :(

Ben

Managed to get a few hours in before my nightshift and after.

Tidied up some previous welds and ground a few plug welds down before i ripped out my previously installed drivers doorstep.

Prepped the new superior step

IMG_3334_zpsa0052c18.jpg

And then installed and roughly ground down, some minor work to do at both ends.

Inspiring work in here, following now. If I ever find a new workshop I'll be using this thread as inspiration on my elf. Keep up the good work

Scuttle time and what a pain in the backside that's turned into. The Heritage panel is by far the best but please can you make it 1/4" wider, that's all.

IMG_3362_zpsfd438763.jpg

I had to resort to doing this even with both sides as even as possible

IMG_3365_zps32cbfc02.jpg

Still after more metal welded in followed by a thorough dose of grinding it looks like this

Just the other side to do, on a happier note the wings do line up a treat with it

Alans monster has now got the new alloy rad and intercooler fitted and the paint prep process is on the way

Possibly coming to a magazine near you soon.
