Looks familiar Neil, similar issues with mine at the moment, i'm going to have to slit and re-position the A-post 5mm forward :goaway: .

 

The the cleco picture it makes the mini look like a Punk rocker!

What about using a porta power in the door aperture to reverse the impact direction and open it up a bit?

What about using a porta power in the door aperture to reverse the impact direction and open it up a bit? 

 

At the moment i have got a gap behind the quarter panel of about 1/4" on the B pillar. So something is not right there so it does not need expanding but closing. I will have another look at the A post once i have the flitch off to see if there has been an issue there.

 

The repair work was appalling and the fact it was done by a bodyshop says something. Saying that i have just done a repair on a Clio where the quarter was supposedly replaced due to accident damage. Lets put it this way the whole thing is rusty and the join on the sill has got 1/4" + of filler on it. No pulling out of damage, just filler.

The bodyshop who carried out the rear quarter repairs should be bloody ashamed of themselves and really need to get more training done.

 

This is what they used to support???? the C pillar repair, 4 bloody spot welds

however there was a crack there so after a quick dig about i was left with this

What the hell. Anyway after adding some more weld we ended up with this

So i though i would have a look at the B pillar and i'm glad i did

Really c'mon guys this is not that far from the seat belt attachment and is dangerous. They must have somewhere for the horses to be tied up outside their premises.

Again after some welding we ended up with this

Can't believe a body shop let that go like that !!!!

I've seen some shi""y bodges done by ameturs in the past but that is shocking
Hope there out of business !!

Cheers Marco, i'm happy now that all is good with the B and C pillars. Mini's are not the most crashworthy vehicles as they are but workmanship like that just compounds matters.

that is really dreadful how they let a car so called fixed back on the road

my neighbor has just spent 2k on his fiesta MK2 XR2 welding and painting it now looks like a battleship with all the plates welded on it and they self tapered the lower  1/4 panel repairs on over rust

stonking work on the special looking great now

I put some new arches in a Rover metro for my cousin a few years back and after i pulled out the inches of filler, i found that they had riveted some rough offcuts of aluminum onto the existing rusty steel and then filled over the top.

 

Luckily the new arches went up to the swage line so there was just enough new steel to fix it properly. It took me a day to do both sides properly with just a tiny skim of filler over the joins along the swage line and in the shut. Most of that time was spent undoing all of the other rubbish.

 

It really makes you wonder why people spend all this money on tins of filler to bodge it when it can be done properly in just a few hours.

 

Good to see you are righting the wrongs though Neil.

 

That looked very dangerous!

Cheers Cliff, if it was not for the fact i saw some cracking i may well have missed them altogether. Not good at all and quite frankly scary.

Door time, started with this,

A bit crusty in places and quite a bit of filler so the edges needed to be changed

And after some grinding and polishing, sealing and a splash of paint we get this

Then it was on with the skin after checking the measurements are the same

Early doors today as my brother in law is coming down from jock land so the final bit of welding will be done probably next week if i have time before IMM.
