Don't know why, but it makes me think of that episode of Father Ted when he just tries to tap out that small dent ...

Whilst chatting to a car dealer yesterday, we got onto the subject of battery powered cars. Reckoning is that, in 10-15 years time, the majority of cars bought will be electric (once they've cracked the long distance issue between charges). As you pay zero road tax on them, and the Government isn't going to get any tax on fuel, what's going to fill that huge financial void that is looming ..?

They will just tax electric cars somehow. The government will probably just track them everywhere so they know how many miles are being done and send the owner a yearly bill accordingly. While they are at it they will issue speeding fines and rake in a load of money that way.
The tax issue and the profits that come with selling crude oil are why electric cars have not progressed as much as some people would like. There is just no point really at the minute. While I'm not with the conspiracy theorists that say that the likes of shell, BP, etc purposely prevent the development of electric cars, they just have no incentive to fund the development of them as they are already making money and fairly easily. Once the oil runs out/ can't be extracted anymore, electric cars or hydrogen cars will take over.
In reality I don't think battery cars will be the norm in 10-15 years. From what I was working on at university, I see a lot more very lightweight, hybrid cars or electric cars with range extender engines fitted to them. Vehicles that can do 150mpg+ will most likely become the norm.

Why don't Americans understand Halloween properly?
When ever I have been to a Halloween party all the European people there are dressed up as ghosts, vampires, werewolves, etc. Things that are supposed to be scary. At one party when I was at university there was an American girl dressed up as Marge Simpson. How is Marge Simpson scary? She stuck out a bit as everyone else was dressed up as witches, cats, werewolves, skeletons, the grim reaper (me) and I think there was even a girl who was dress up as a zombie clown.
When ever you see TV programs and films (usually made in the USA) that feature a Halloween party in it you see people dressed up as all sorts of c*** such as army men, nurses, star wars characters, Indiana Jones, etc, which aren't scary.
THIS IS NOT THE POINT OF HALLOWEEN!!!

I agree. They won't become the norm, but lets say for the sake of arguement they did, the government could tax you UK inhabbitants for the disposal of the batteries. Apparently there is no environmentally friendly way to get rid of them. i think hydrogen is the way to go. Or what about NOS? Isn't that nitrious oxide? If that can make cars go faster, than just make them run off it maybe?

I just installed my rear-view mirror from the Mini onto my computer screen. It isn't being used on the car, as the car is under restoration. So I thought I may as well stick it to my monitor, and aim it at the door. That way I don't need to change my underwear whenever father is bringing me a cup of tea and my music is playing loud.

N2O is an oxidising chemical. It is not a fuel. What a lot of people don't realise is when you have a nitrous kit, it also injects more fuel (diesels are a little different but they still need something to combust with the nitrous). Without the extra fuel then the nitrous doesn't do a lot.
This means that you will never be able to run a car on nitrous alone.

If you say so you sure it's not for something else you're looking at on the computer

All hallows, aka all saints day, is November 1st. All hallows eve, aka Halloween is the 31st of October, the day before.
What I was taught as a kid was that as Halloween is the last day that the spirits of the dead could roam the earth and play tricks before the saints all came along to be celebrated on November 1st.
Wikipedia gives a slightly different explanation but its not far from what I was taught.
Either way. Where does Marge Simpson, army men, Indiana Jones, star wars characters and nurses fit into this?

Seeing people wearing sandals held on by the plastic posts between the big and second toes makes my stomach heave. I don't know how anyone can wear them.
