I don't know how people can drive in bare feet. Feels so wrong!

I have always had big cars and when it came to a point when i had no choice but to have basically what was available at short notice, i bought a Peugeot 106. For the first few weeks of driving it, i had to take my shoes off as the pedals are so small and close together, i kept mashing the pedals together whilst braking etc. Pretty dangerous!

Got used to it now though and wear shoes like normal people

I speak from the experience of having small feet so never having a problem. Sounds like you've got perfect sized feet to be a rally driver ;D

ive had to buy driving shoes haha size 12 feet in the mini is horrible and i cant do it in my walking shoes like a normally wear i had to buy a pair of pumpy trainer things

I had this problem when driving a mates saxo and I only have size 10 feet so its not like I am a freak of nature or something.

I used to clip my foot on the foot rest in my Vectra. I found when putting my foot on it my foot was bent up a bit so in the end I just unclipped and removed the foot rest all together which solved both problems.

I had to lend my sister my shoes once to drive because her's were hurting her. BUY MORE PRACTICAL SHOES!!! Actually on second thoughts don't buy any more shoes. She has enough.

I've driven on socks before. But often only do it when im on the motorway. The accelerator pedal on my A3 is up from the floor and tilts back on itself. easy to use. I just take shoes off because you can get more room to move my feet about and relax (not what you need when driving, but hey!)

Yeah im a hippy!

Ah the old driving in ya socks. reminds me of mitp 07 or should that have been mini in the swamp. My own mini had unfortunately failed its mot on the Saturday on the headlamps being to high and the garage not knowing how to adjust them. Although I'd later found out they had been deliberately failing cars having run out of pass sheets.

But having paid for ticket I ended up hitching a ride with pikey7, aka mike RIP. All was ok until it suddenly dawned muddy shoes plus carpets/pedals don't mix, as if the outside of the mini wasn't muddy enough. I ended up using a Huddersfield's mini free leaflet as a make do car mat and mike chose to drive in just his socks. Witch lasted all of about 5 miles after realising gluing sandpaper to the pedals maybe wasn't such a good idea.

Why is it that some people are so thick skinned/stupid that they don't even realise that they are annoying you even if you have bought them up on the same thing again and again?

Funny though when you can blatantly take the piss out of them right to their face and they don't even notice!

Why is it at one particular roundabout (2 lanes) and set of lights after (3 lanes) it doesn't matter witch lane, correct, not or even down the middle of two I always get cut up?

Just this evening I nearly rear ended a clearly much better bmw driver (must be as it had limo tint windows and black/ non existent rear brake lights) after cutting me up on the roundabout by using the wrong lane, only to get in front and slam on there brakes for the red light at the crossing immediately after the exit to the roundabout. Just why? what's the point to push past/undertake just to end up half a cars length in front to then end up stationary.

I think your description of the vehicle answers your question as to the mentality of the driver there O_O . Unfortunately, too many about. I'm sick of coming up to motorway turnoffs, nothing in the lane behind and having some t**t come screaming up the middle and then cut back in front at the last minute to get off the motorway, always having to slam on the brakes because they've exited doing about a ton. Can't just slow down and get in the right lane. If we were allowed to carry guns in this country, people would be shooting each other every 5 minutes.

We are too stupid impatient and distracted to use roundabouts over here. The couple that I have seen, they had to use all kinds of signs to try to get people to use them properly. I am glad that I do not have to use them during the rush hour.

The driver drives the car, not the car drives the driver!  I've driven beemers for a long time (with the odd MG and Octavia VRS thrown in), but I dont do the cutting up thing, I let people out of junctions etc.  Lots of bad drivers out there in all sorts of cars (and vans, lorries etc).  I said vans as I was nearly wiped out by a red sprinter this morning who, despite the fact I was on a 60mph stretch of road - just decided to wander out of a layby (no indicator) in front of me.  I was in a borrowed Landrover so not exactly hard to spot!

Random thought for today - French Air Traffic Controllers!  If you take the first letter of the first 3 words and just use the first 4 letters of the last word - is that what people are calling them today when their flight is cancelled?

Sprinter drivers seem to be the worst motorists, especially in the extra long wheelbase ones.

Many years ago on the M25 i was in heavy traffic in torrential rain(the sort where you can barely see ahead) suddenly a sprinter came out of nowhere in the fast lane and was hurtling into the distance. I thought what a dick and then a few hundred yards ahead, you could just make out this large white blur through the rain tipping up on two wheels, swerve and then back on the other two wheels before spinning right round in front of all the traffic. Everyone hit the anchors hard and it caused a massive pile up. I think there were 18 cars IIRC.

I was at the back in my rover 111 :(

Thing is he pulled over to the hard shoulder before anyone else involved managed to, checked his van and then drove off like nothing had happened.

I have driven large vans many times and i have to say, they are not difficult to drive well so what is the problem. Sometimes it's like watching a 12 year old drive after stealing a car and with no driving experience whatsoever!

Google an aerial shot of the Magic Roundabout in Swindon. Bit mental.

There is a round about near me that has only three exits. When I come back from work there is one to my left and one straight on.

Why does everyone use the left hand lane to go straight on? This is the one time that you use the right hand lane to go straight on.

What baffles me is that there is a set of traffic lights along the road off the first junction. This often means people are queueing to get onto the roundabout and off at the first exit. People wanting to go straight on sit in this queue of traffic so using the right hand lane makes much more sense as its usually empty.
