What would get further before wearing out? A mk1 mini when it was brand new or my sister's shoe collection?

To give you an idea of the size of my sister's shoe collection it was only until about a year ago when her other half was made redundant and had time to really tidy up the house did we know that there was a floor to their hallway.

depends on if they are cheap tat from the market or expensive quality shoes?

A mixture.

I had a think about this on the way home today.

If the average person walks say 5 miles per day (I used to stack shelves and I'd clock up 10 in a 4 hour shift) and say a pair of shoes last about 6 months (some of my boots have lasted a few years while my cheap converse lasted all of about a month) and my sister at one point had just managed to get into 3 digits on the number of pairs of shoes she had (I kid you not, you could not see the back wall of her bedroom because of the shoeboxes) that gives us:

5x0.5x365x100= 91250 miles

I think my sister's shoe collection may have it over the Mini.

and the shoes need no servicing, rust prevention/repair and keep going as long as the wearer can.

That's it then, i shall give up driving and walk everywhere  ;D

Can you drink tinned Guinness straight from the can or will it taste all messed up?

You probably can but it's most likely better being poured into a glass. I don't like Guinness anyway (including trying it in Ireland!) so it makes no odds to me - I'd say it's horrid stuff either way! :X However, I popped on the Guinness website and they say this about the widget in the cans:

"The widget is a plastic moulded device that sits on the top of the contents of each can of GUINNESS® Draught. When the can is opened, a small amount of beer and nitrogen, trapped in the widget, is forced out through the beer, which creates the famous creamy head that you find on a pint of GUINNESS® Draught served in a pub. The widget gives GUINNESS® Draught in cans the taste and texture of a pub-poured pint at home."

So I would guess the answer is yes, you can ;D

Why is it that when you are driving and get a bug splat on the windscreen, at least 75% of the time that splatted bug is in your line of vision???

And your first thought is to wash/wipe the windscreen which just smears it everywhere making it even harder to see.

grrrrrr

But isn't that working on the basis you're then putting it into a glass? I just wondered what happens to the head on canned Guinness if you opened it and just swigged it from the can.

(Guinness is dark red by the way - I like that fact - if you go to Guinness in Ireland they give you a plastic pebble with some Guinness in that you can hold up to the light and amaze all your friends with).

I've only tried guiness once. Someone insisted I drank a pint of it because I had a nose bleed. I only managed about half of it. I found it horrible.

What time does evening start and the afternoon finishes? We were debating this at work. I said between 5 and 6pm. One of my work colleagues said around 8pm. I would consider 8pm the start of the night, especially when its already dark at that time.

Evening for me starts at 6pm... although to greet someone with good evening doesnt feel right at 6pm

Which leads me to another point... walking into a place around but not quite midday... do you still greet with with good morning? makes me feel ackward

"Hi, nice to meet you" I think is my go to response when I am not sure.

I always answer the phone either "Good morning, Wrekin" or "Good afternoon, Wrekin" depending on what time of day it is. I still answer the phone at home with the last 3 digits of our phone number yet I don't do it with a mobile phone.

I seem to be going more for the "hey there" or "Howdy"... which just kinda makes me sound odd.

I always found it strange when I phoned my friends house when I was younger, my friends mum would answer the phone and speak the number. Something I guess that doesnt happen too much now due to mobile phonebooks n such... plus I cant think of the last time I even phoned a landline. I dont even know anyone elses home numbers
