Why do people not care about other people's cars, I was sitting in my car in sainburys car park when an Audi pulled into the space next to me, it was quite funny as I mentioned to my brother who was sitting in the passenger seat, about how badly kerbed his wheels were, when he go out and opened his passenger rear door straight into the wheel arch on my car, the arch full on bent as his door hit it, he didn't give a monkeys, I was about to get out and ask him why he did it but he got a baby out the back, so I just left it, thank goodness he only hit the arch, why are people like this? rant over.

I would still have said something, especially if he cased damage! Baby or not, there is no excuse for it.

I probably should have, I was also quite confused at why he could be so careless, and it only put a 2mm scratch on the arch so not to bad, good job the arch is flexible.

Its not exactly like a mini takes up a lot of space is it. There is no excuse for hitting your mini like this. I've had a go at a few people for opening doors into any of my cars. The usual response is "its only a little scratch". Yeah one that wasn't there before you opened your door carelessly into my car!

Yesterday at my RC model flying club we were talking about the driving test. We all think that driving has got worse over the last 5 or so years and that people are becoming more dependant on driver aids that modern cars come with. They may help drivers but the problem comes when people learn to drive on a modern car and then their first car is a 15 year old base model.

We came up with the idea that when taking your test you should turn up at a test centre and use a car that they provide. The car should have no driver aids and you would not be told what the car is going to be. This means the first person who turns up might get an Aygo, the next person a 1.6 litre diesel ford focus and the next person a 3 litre petrol BMW. This would mean people who really can drive will still be able to pass their test as it will not bother them but people who have just learnt to pass a test in one particular car won't.

When I was taught to drive my driving instructor had a paper clip glued to his rear windscreen and a marker on his side mirror. These were used so when you lined them up with the kerb or white line you ended up in the right place. Too me it made little difference as I learn to drive across a variety of cars ( by the time I got my licence I had already driven a pug 206 diesel, my mini, mum's 2 litre mondeo, 1.2 diesel swift, sister's 1.1 mk3 fiesta, dad's 1.8 tdci focus and I think there were a couple more in there) but I bet some people he taught totally relied on them and then when they got their first car ended up backing into parked cars, etc.

Another random thought courtesy of a friend of mine was that the song Eat, sleep, rave repeat would be quite different for a diabetic person. It would be closer to:

Check sugar levels, insulin, eat, rave a bit, check sugar levels, alter insulin dosage to compensate for low sugar levels, eat, rave a bit more, check sugar levels, insulin, eat, rave some more, 24 hour injection of insulin, rave some more, sleep, repeat.

Doesn't roll of the tongue quite as well does it?

My thinking about that, there isnt nearly enough eating... eat, sleep, wake up, midnight snack, sleep a bit more, rave a little, go off to get a snack, bit more ravings, maybe a bit of a nap, eat, rave, repeat

I swear all action movies are the same but with different people and slightly different circumstances...

Because some people are just c@£&s. I wait for the universe to right itself and people like that get their just deserts.

On the driving test thing, I stand by a statement I said to our local MP I while back - there needs to be a standards test introduced. Say every 10-15 years you have to retake a more straight forward practical driving test followed by a theoretical driving knowledge test. It would hopefully start to remove continually worsened driving habits on the road, bring a bit more revenue into the country and hopefully start to make the roads a little safer. Being able to drive is a responsibility to uphold regulations, not a right to ignore them.

You think you've got it bad in the UK - Kiwis are genuinly shocking... mostly because they all think they are boy-racers (seen one guy doing 40 mph in a 20 mph the other day, happens pretty regularly unfortunately). Still, some of the tourists we get here in Southland are even worse - They have some interesting ideas when it comes to parking, shall we say. Hanging off the edge of a bridge, backwards in a stream, upside down in a ditch... You name it and it's happened.

On a serious note though, there are wayy to many fatal accidents over summer in NZ. I can't remember exact numbers, but the ratio to population is insane. A lot better than it used to be, but still not ideal.

At least your idiot gene pool is allowed to thin itself out a bit. Our country is way too crowded. I think we should abolish health and safety for a few years. Let the idiots bump themselves off and reduce the population a bit.

The smart people will apply common sense and survive. Eventually we should get to the point where the phrase "hey, watch this" is never uttered again.

That, my friend, is genius.

And yeah you do have a point. We still have more sheep than people, thankfully sheep can't drive!

I was charged 89p for a box of tea bags at a 99p store today. Eh?  . I'm not complaining that I got something cheaper than the price advertised but I thought stuff at a 99p store cost 99p or am I mistaken?

On my way into the town centre I noticed, fitted into a pedestrian foot bridge, a D400 class manhole cover. Why would someone fit a D400 cover into a pedestrian area. Its a bit over kill. C250 and even B125 class can be used in car parks. (some people may get this if they work for the highway's authorities or building companies). Also what does a manhole cover lead to on a bridge? The road that is about 50 foot below?

Finally. In telford town centre there is still the easter bunny stand in the square. As part of it there is a guy dressed up as a bush that looks like it has been trimmed into the shape of a human. When he stands really still it actually does look like a fake plant in the shape of a person. As little kids go past, every so often he jumps out and scares them. I thought when walking past it would be funnier to make it obvious that it was a person in a costume and go up to him with a chain saw and make it look like I was cutting into him. I would make it so that blood and guts came flying out. That would scare people more. I suppose I could just attack him with an actual chain saw but I don't want to get banned from Telford town centre.

How come when the hulk bloke turns into the hulk, the flared trouser leg splits but the tight bit around his waist stays put? Surely they would split and he would be left with his budgie smugglers cutting in, rolling around in pain shouting 'my knackers are killing me'.

You are quite entitled to ask for someone's insurance details if they mark your car. I've done it before and that wasn't even with a mini that I had poured hundreds of hours of effort in to.

I would 100% make sure they pay to rectify any damage.
