Well, we had mechanisms in the Space Shuttle that did not work as well as your bonnet opening and latching set up and they were less complicated (I think). To say that I am very impressed does not seem to be enough.
Here, it works just like Binky's bonnet........

That was a more intense cliffhanger than at the end of most movies in a series! One helluva good episode. Anyone else reckon it was a bit short though? 
Only 25 minutes? Sigh. The wait begins.
