Talking about having a crystal ball and a big barn back when I was a lad of 17, minis of all genre's were scrapped just because the rear subframe was gone. Back then I couldnt weld or fix them like I can now. I used to go to our local scrapyards and there used to be a minimum of ten minis in each, pickups, vans, travellers, even coopers and S,s what a crying shame we used to keep going back and pick them clean for our daily runabouts sigh!!!

Yes, but if they were all still around, they wouldn't be rare or sort-after as much!

I think the main increase in price is due to lots of New Mini owners wanting to be part of the Classics Scene.

I call it Scene Tax :shades:

I can't see many of today's models becoming classics. Apart from them looking the same, they have obsolescence designed in to keep us buying new versions. That will make them difficult, and expensive, to maintain beyond their intended service lives. How many common parts are there on new & original Binis compared to 40 years of little rot box production?

No what I am saying is that lots of New Mini owners want to own a classic as well, look at how much decent Fiat 500's go for and then the Classic mini will seem cheap
