Don't the whitewalls cut a groove into the tyres during cornering? Pretty sure this was mentioned in a previous thread, just something to think about.

Only if it's the inserts , It has been mentioned a few time's and other forums that I've read have had the it has cut the tyre to the cords.

The car in the picture is my '63 Super Delux. I fitted the white wall flaps as I've always liked the look of white walls on old pictures on Minis and Mutants. There are a pain to fit and one flap decided to try and fall off on the maiden voyage down to Beaulieu in 2011.
It had to be removed, hence why there are only pictures of the left side of the car. When I returned home after the weekend and a round trip of nearly 800 miles, I had a look at the tyres and noticed that grooves were starting to appear in the tyre walls so I removed the flaps.
The look might be good but the tyre damage is not so good.

Ahh hope you dont mind me postiing them here haha, ahh nice to know about that issues, a good way to solve that would be to bin the flaps and paint the white on with some tyre white lettering pen or similar, although i cant say how expensive that would be

I wouldn't bother trying to paint the side walls as I've never seen it done without it looking like it's been painted. I guess after a while it would look really crap when it starts cracking and flaking.

True and true haha, i've done the lettering before on my old mans range rover which has rather large side walls so i presume more flex and movement and it held up with no cracks or flaking but the main problem is the colour fades into a rad grimed white haha
