We have a lovely 89 Metro and I went to get some new tyres today; and was told, after a bit of a wait that, they no longer make tyres for the wheels its got.

I dont know the size of the wheels, they look like 10's, my mini has 10's and I did compare.

The tyre size is 160/65 R 315, its an odd size I know.

Will mini tyres fit well? or will the metro sit too low?

Thanks for any advice

Also I think this is my first post about the Metro, so I put up an unrelated picture to show her off ;)

They are 315mm diameter Metric rims! Probably from an early MG Metro since the profile on the Austin Metro of the time would have been higher profile.

The PCD is 4" so the cheapest thing to do would be to source some Mini/Metro wheels and tyres in 12/13".

Ten inch wheels won't clear the brakes, hence this new size which was seen on a few Austin and BL cars in the 80's as well as some Saabs etc.

12"s should go on with a little persuasion.

I just thought, correct me if Im barking up the wrong tree!

Would it not be possible to get a set of normal 12 inch tyres to fit over the wheels?

Im working on the basis of 315mm is 12 inches... am I being silly?

If you fitted 1" spacers to the front brakes, you can fit 10" steelies like i did....

315 is 12.4", you might find some that fit but honestly I wouldn't bother, its going to be a lot of money for something that might not fit.
