Add on import duty and carriage and dollar price will be similar to pounds, at £450 that's one expensive roof rack (does look nice though)

Personally...I like this one
http://www.minimania...r-Classic-Minis

Just a bit too much for me blood

Errr, I don't like that at all! But each to their own :P

But the first one is exactly the same as the one I posted :D but £300 plus postage which is £265 is a little bit ridiculous :(.

Think I'm going to have to just wait it out to be honest, boo!

i really like that roof rack, but is a bit to rich for me. probably wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost. shame.....

Couldn't you just put some slats on a desmo one?

Either screw into the poles or perhaps some loop that goes around.

You could pay someone to do it for less that £500 that's for sure

We could have a sort-of competition in terms of 'who has carried the most unusual load on a Mini roof-rack?
I'll start it. I once moved a complete single bed from London to Hitchin!

I carryed a square bale of straw for a 1000 mile trip from north to south of ireland and home again

I'm almost afraid to ask why :D .

Unless you are going to be carrying big awkward sized loads a lot any roof-rack will only be on very occasionally, so paying a lot for one is a bit of a waste of the old 'hard-earned'. It's not something you really want to leave on the car as it seriously impacts on fuel consumption, top speed and the wind noise at cruising speed is high.

But for moving big loads they can't be beaten, unless you have a trailer.

I made my own. For what I use it for and how often it gets used, it's a waste of money buying one.

Cost me £5 for some MK2 fiesta roof bars which fit ok standard, fit perfect with a little modifacation.

Stands me at around £35 and the bonus is that its 6ft long and 3ft wide. I've since made a few attachments for it like the gazebo that slots into the rack and opens up then folds down and straps to the roof rack when your done. Not particularly stylish unless your going for the rat look but very practical and cheap.

I'd rather not go down the route of making my own if I'm totally honest but thanks for all your photo's and suggestions!
