Been a while, yet again

Managed to find a 1275 Midget grille from ebay in America (with postage and import fees it was still £130 cheaper than buying one from UK)

Fitted with chrome surrounds, and sorted the large indicators for the smaller type on the 1275 :)

I also have some 5X13 minators that have been fitted with new Yokohama tyres, will get some pictures of them soon :)

Looks good! It reminds me of my cousins 1972 Midget that he still has with the "home made" fibreglass hardtop that we made. We had great times with that car while in college when it was new.

That is awesome, rare RWA, wish I had a 1275, but then again the 1500 I've messed around with is nice and revvy having been balanced and with aluminium flywheel :)

Mines currently in the bodyshop but should have it back any day now. Can't wait need to get it finished so I can get started on my clubby estate. Best part about a midget is its all the fun of a mini but rear wheel drive ;-)

Really nice dude, wish I could get the little panels that fit under the rear lights!

On another note, I have ordered an earlier morris minor steering rack, as the ratio is currently 2.7 and will change it to 2.25 :D

Had to purchase brackets and prices steering arms to go with it!

Bit of an update

Fitted the earlier quicker rack, omg...it is immense with a 10" steering wheel :D

On another note, I decided that the 1500 does provide the power I was hoping soooo......

K Series Power is the way forward :D

Managed to pick up this engine 1.4 MEMS3 for £75 and bought all the necessary parts to go with it. Timing belt, oil pump, water pump etc etc

Decided to buy the N Series upgrade kit, which consists of stronger engine bolts (rated at 10.9 instead of the original 9.8. A MLS head gasket and stronger oil rail)

On stripping it I found no signs of HGF and quite possibly it's original gasket (engine has done 58k)

Currently on the lookout for a Type 9 box - they seem to be quite expensive >.< I did toy with the idea of keeping the original triumph gearbox but thought it wouldn't last very long.

I think a K-series in a Midget is a fantastic idea. Starting off with a 1400 is a good plan too as they're really cheap. Plenty of scope for bigger/better/faster in the future as I believe externally they're all the same size whatever the capacity. I remember reading that Frontline had a Sprite with a modded K-series as their demonstrator that had about 195BHP. Bet that wasn't attached to a Triumph gearbox either...  :teehee:

Yeah this is very true, the main reason I went for the 1400 is that that's the size the K Series was designed to be, and is supposed to be more reliable than the 1600 or 1800.

I've done some other things in the meantime, I know it really should be the last job to do, but I couldn't help myself.

Oh and yeah, the colour looks like a red/pink, but it is in fact Flamenco which is the same colour as the MG. :P

Managed to get the block stripped down completely, sump and rail. Gonna take them to work where I can steam clean them :)

Whilst it's stripped even though the bearings are in good condition, I am going to replace them.

Not sure whether to paint the block or not....

Managed to get the block steam cleaned in work, still unsure whether to paint the block.... I have loads of paint left over from the Triumph lump.

Get some pictures tomorrow.

Gonna be changing the main and big end bearings, reading the manual I have they are colour coded, depending on certain codes you have on your block and crank so I've got the necessary bearings on order.

As per previous comment, the bearings are colour coded so had a bit of a nightmare trying to get all the right ones. All sorted. got the crank in need to fit the liners and pistons.

The Cylinder head is all built ready to go!
