Well, bought some autoglym back to black and started polishing the bumpers, this is what it was like when I got it..
And this is what it was like after polishing.
Today's plan, change oil and filter, air filters, and put on the electronic distributor, coil, spark plugs and ht leads :)

Ive noticed that spitfires are a lot more money compared to the Midget, and thats just looking at the 1500s
Thats true, was trying to get a spitfire for restoration a couple of months ago but someone else offered silly money for it

I agree Jaydee, their stupid money to be honest! you can get a well sorted MGB for that same price, or a really early Midget!
Been quite busy, changed air filters, electronic ignition is on, new coil and ht leads and plugs. Starts great.
Got to change the old throttle cable and put the new one on, quite test drive. Unbelievable, so jerky, (nothing....nothing...then rev'd high) turns out it's a common problem with the 1500, why just the 1500, I don't know! I've ordered a universal teflon coated throttle cable from Venhill as I believe they sort the problem out.
In the meantime, I've been busy with the polish (both body and bumper)
I'm pretty sure this car is Vermillion, but my dads B is a even lighter orange colour, which I thought was Vermillion....can someone help?

That is Vermillion, Im currently restoring a 1980 Vermillion midget, My dad bought it brand new in 1980, and then sold it, we came across it on ebay last year so we bought it back to restore, those bumpers are incredibly strong, he hit a deer in a country lane at 45mph, which died instantly and the car just suffered a broken number plate mount and a few marks on the plastic bumper surface,
You got the Vinyl roof?
also an issue with the 1500 is overheating, however it can be cured with an oil cooler and oil feed to the rocker cover which are both easy to get ahold of.
Good luck with it, they are excellent little cars

Managed to get the popping from the exhaust to stop, twas running lean.
Ive heard the oil cooler is good, but the oil feed kit to the rocker deprives everything else of oil!
