Steve, I think you have done all you can and the fact that the auctioneers took such a large percentage considering this is going to charity is appalling. PM me your paypal email address and I'll send you £10 toward the charity. Perhaps if everyone who has made a contribution to any of these related threads (good or bad) does the same then maybe the charity will get close to the figure you were hoping for.
Best

Yeah, the guy was trying to spam the place up promoting his 'museum' and donations.
I did have a look at his site earlier and he doesn't seem to make any mention of it.

Fairly sure this is the charity http://www.acorns.org.uk/ - you can donate directly.
Those levels of auction house fees are normal - it's their business. Silverstone Auctions are involved with charitable events - http://www.silversto...ons.com/carfest.

Thanks Tanya, would prefer to do it through Steve so that there is a bigger donation and it supports his idea.
Hope you are well.

Sold for more than it's worth IMO, it is what it is. But I am surprised it only went for £1400. Hope a museum got it and doesn't mess with it any more than it already has been. Congrats on the sale, I know you've had a lot of stick on here about it.

wow, people are still going on......
I happen to know that Minicrazy took all of your advice/criticism and bid on the car himself.......
I know guess your all have to wait and see if he won it or not.
Sorry it didnt make more for charity

I missed all this first time, I'm happy to say... "hype" doesn't even cover it, a mildly interesting old shell gets turned from the slightly tenuous "last mini to leave longbridge" into "the last mini ever made". Amazing what people will buy into... with words, anyway, though apparently not cash ;)
