Thanks mate! Have you heard about IMM next year? It will be in Portugal, maybe we can put them together
I have thought about it but it's a long way to go! And my road trip fund usually goes on Le Mans lol. Maybe I can scrape some extra pennies together! Love how you car looks with the banded steels and hubcap combo
Incredibly slowly.
I've just bought a boot floor this week actually. Hope to make a bit of progress soon.
Slow and steady wins the race haha. Glad to hear it's not been forgotten. Last time I checked you were going supercharged, is that still happening?
Chris this now looks awesome. I simply cannot believe that someone left a rag inside the gearbox! Now I am no engineer but I like to think that when I take something apart I make a note of where it should go back to and what should NOT be in there! Still, sounds like they did you a favour considering the state of what they found...
Thanks a lot mate!! I can hardly believe it myself! KAD said that it was nothing short of a miracle that I drove it as far as I did before it went bang haha.

Slow, maybe. Steady, maybe not.
I sold the supercharger kit last year and spent some of the money getting a hybrid turbo for my 205 GTI. The Mini will be boosted in the end but that will be turbo'd too.
I may shock you soon and get some actual progress done.

Yeah would be great to meet you too! Do you venture over to the UK much?

Another little update for you all.
Can't remember if I mentioned before that I got myself an HIF44 carb. so here it is.
Looks pretty good after a lick of paint!!
And of course i gave it my trademark Lego flavour.
Here's how the bay looks now
The twin HS2's will be sorely missed... Just kidding, no they won't, I hate them with every fiber of my being, and words cannot describe how much I wish to never set eyes on them again, the absolutely hateful piles of pure anguish, disappointment and misery....
In all seriousness, the car runs bloody fantastic with the new carb on!! No more insanely long warm up time, and it pulls like a bloody train! I'll definitely miss how good the twin carbs looked but that's about it, they just weren't worth the trouble.
I've certainly been through a few carb settups...
Moving on, I also changed my front splitter. Originally I had a McClean Bros one which over time I ended up hating as it was too square and narrow for my liking, so I switched it up for a MK1 Golf duckbill splitter which looks soooooo much better imo. I had to make some fancy brackets to get it to sit at the angle I wanted.

Thanks a lot! I did indeed Hammerite smooth yellow thinned down and sprayed through a gun, I then made the designs for the stickers on photoshop and had them printed.

Soooooo once again I've been a lazy boy at keeping on top of this thread. Probably due to becoming slightly addicted to Instagram... Nothing really substantial has happened since October, but there is stuff to report on nonetheless so here we go.
Since finally getting the car running after the KAD rebuild last summer, it has been absolutely flawless, only going wrong once due to my own stupidity, which I will get to in a second...
Firstly, a few random photos I took after getting the Golf splitter on.
The next thing I did was fit a JDM style tow eye, which was a monumental faff as I had to drill out the hole in the front panel and the subframe to about double the original size. Looks cool though! Came in handy too...
One little mod I did was the addition of a badge. I tell people that it's because 'I felt the front need something extra', but in really it's because the bonnet latch has cracked the paint slightly due to flexing and I wanted to hide it
I was after something a bit different, and after buying an old Austin badge (and subsequently snapping that one in half while trying to bend it), I then stumbled across a rather nice Speedwell badge on ebay, which I think was about 25 quid. Now at the time I was quite chuffed as I thought it was genuine, but then I did some research and realised I'd been a complete lemon... However, after discovering that genuine ones go for astronomical amounts, I became less annoyed and decided to stick it on anyway as I liked it.
next up, I almost burned the car to the ground on the side of the A14... as you do...
Ever since getting it back on the road it's had an odd habit of randomly cutting out for a split second and then going back to being perfect. I assumed it was due to running rich and coking the plugs up causing it to miss a spark. No big deal. Well on the way back from a local meet it did it again, only this time it cut out for good. No lights, hazards, nothing... Safe to say it was pretty scary coasting at 70 in pitch black darkness! Luckily I found my way to the shoulder without incident, popped the bonnet and saw nothing wrong... My clever brain then finally decides to check the battery, where I was met with a boot full of smoke and a battery earth cable that fizzing away lava. After scrambling to disconnect it, I then rang my dad and he towed me home via that very handy towing eye I had just fitted.
The next day, I set out to figure out what the hell had happened, and it took me all of about 2 minutes to find the positive battery cable melted to the exhaust under the car... I cant believe i was so stupid to route it so close, but I've learnt my lesson! It's now safely routed away from the exhaust, and I keep a fire extinguisher in the car now!
After that slight mishap, everything has been perfect. I managed to wangle my way onto the HIC insurance stand at Ultimate Stance, which was an amazing show. The mini took the 6 hour round trip in it's stride, and even picked up an award for sponsor's choice!
I then changed up my cluster of stickers. Most of you probably haven't heard of Violent Clique, but they're an application only club for modified cars of a high standard, so I'm chuffed to be repping them!
Now recently I cracked out my old PS2 and began reliving my childhood on Need For Speed Underground, which eventually led to me getting carried away again...
I'm undecided on colour yet (it can be anything), but I love it!! Even though I know most won't
Lastly, I mocked up my ABS motorsport rear lip. Can't wait to get it painted!
So that's all for now, my current to do list is upgrading all the lights, fixing my fuel gauge, plus a few more substantial goodies to reveal!
I'll leave you with a fancy interior shot...

Look's great, I've been following it on Instagram. Liking the light's underneath. The Rear lip should look good painted.
