That wing could crack bad mate, as the wings flex a lot.

I know it looks thick, but I swear it's only a very thin skim. I had time to do the bulkhead but I really don't have time to replace the wing too, plus that panel is getting vinyl wrapped anyway so if it does crack it's not the end of the world

Bulkhead looks better mate I think the wing will be ok. People cover whole doors in filler and they don't crack so should be good

So as I mentioned yesterday, today is the day she finally went off for paint,

After a lot of thought, I decided the best way of getting the car on the trailer would be to reinstall the front subframe and steering rack so I could put the front wheels back on. I got them fitted quite quickly but only very loosely, as the plan was to remove them when it got to the workshop. That went smoothly and I brought the subframe home again to work on while the car is away

I also stuck a load of seam sealer over the exposed welds at each end of the bulkhead and anywhere where the new panel wasn't flush with the original one, just to make sure it was water tight

Back on her wheels for the first time in ages!!

Time to get her loaded up onto the trailer

All set!

Apparently I should get her back by the end of February, so until then, I'm going to start work on tidying up the engine, ancillaries, and subframe  :proud:

I think you can agree looking back that the bulkhead looks 1000 times better now than it ever would have with all the filler. Plus welding in the new panel probably took less time than all the previous filler work.

Absolutely! you are completely right, I spent weeks smoothing the original panel with filler, and only a few days fitting the new panel. Definitely worth doing and I'm glad I listened to the advice from others  :proud:
