Loving the look of this build nice bits of detail here and there, like the paint you have used on the interior hope it last well to :)

i just bought something very shiny and expensive because it was pretty and sparkly..... pics when it arrives!
Posted 19 August 2015 - 11:37 PM
ok so i lied about the pics when it arrived, im lazy and im ashamed. but better late than never!!
custom one-off steering wheel from Kingfab, in midnight purple with multicoloured flake. its lairy, but it'll fit my car's style soooo well.
anyway, on with the project!!! Ive actually been busy!!
continuing with finishing off the cage, i fitted the rear diagonal and tightened it all up
i then modified my home made door pocket inserts to fit round the bars and make things look a bit tidier. still need a bit of perfecting
moving on, it was time to crack on with body work. endless sanding, filler, sanding, filler, sanding, etc...
as you may have seen in one of my last updates, i started work on the drivers side front arch and worked my way backwards.
got the front seams looking much tidier now. bit better than the hammer/chisel induced train wreck that was here....
moved on to the door
then on to the rear arch
this was an absolute pain in the danglies because the metal had been warped from where i had the arches tubbed... greeeaaaat
and the start of the rear valence... ive done loads more on it than this, but forgot to take any pickys
then decided to sort out the door sills which were a mess from where i had stuck some of those tread plate things on with silicone... hours of scraping and sanding
then a bit more de-deseaming...
at this point i will mention that a couple of weeks ago my dad bought a welder off my uncle.
we didnt realise quite how powerful it was until we decided to have a go with it... epic fail
weve told him he can have it back, and ive now order a sealy supermig 150 should get it this week
anyway, moving on...
after chatting with Harry (Artful Dodger on here), he persuaded me to drop the subframe before i had it repainted, so i set about with my spanners. turned out to be much easier than i thought it would be!!
ill wire brush the whole thing back and coat it in stone chip or hammerite or something. also got the steering rack off too.
and lastly, ive decided to commit to going with twin carbs, so ground back the captive nuts that held that weird carb recess panel thing on, and also ground away the protruding rim that ran round the edge of the hole. gunna weld a panel in here and smooth the whole thing over.
and its also nice to know that when i get bored of tinkering with my own bottomless money pit, i can work on Dom's (doormat on here) instead
he came over and we spent an evening fitting his rear camber brackets.
well thats all for now. im off to texas for 2 weeks in a couple days so ill crack on with more updates when i return
