Looking good! At least you found some of the rot now, rather than later when it has spread. Also, those arches really do make the car stand out. Let me know what you do the front of the arch, as I have the same problem and I'm trying to think of what to do. Great idea with the centre caps as well

cheers man, yeah glad i found it to be honest. i know its not as bad as what most mini owners have to deal with, but rot is rot lol... will do mate, basically im planning on cutting the arch along the crease where the lip for putting the bolts through bends up. ill then bend that out to the shape of the body and use fiberglass and filler to close the gap.... if that makes any sense lol

That makes perfect sense, and pretty logical as well. Wonder if I can do that on mine . . .

some things have happened recently!
firstly a cheeky box from minispares
and then i went to pick up my new seats which i won on fleebay from someone on here. im slightly confused though as they were listed as cobra classics but clearly have the corbeau logo on them, although the logo is higher up on one seat than on the other, so im wondering whether they are actually legit or not... either way though, ive always wanted black classic style buckets and they were a great price for the condition (and the condition was good considering they are 13 years old!)
and my room is now starting to look like a second garage... soon the whole damn car will be in here haha
but the main thing that ive got done? the engine is out!!!
after getting all the ancillaries off, a few mates came round on sunday and with a length of scaffold and a long strap we adopted some serious hillbilly methods of engine removal haha.... worked a treat, but i was still bricking it the whole time though
out with the old, in with the new.... eventually
the plan is to partially smooth the engine bay (wire tuck, fuse box and washer bottle move inside the car, random holes filled, etc), then once the car is painted ill tart up the new 1275 before dropping that in

I like where this car is heading, especially with that grille!
There are some interesting methods in this part of the world for a lot of things, so don't feel bad

cheers man! yeah i thought the grille would be a bit different. i was going to go for a fine mesh one but i saw some that looked a bit dodgey and it put me off lol
haha, well as the saying goes... if it sounds like a bad idea, but it works, then its not a bad idea....

Not a fan of van grilles on saloon, look unfinished, but got to be better than fine mesh grille I'm sure will look pretty cool anyway :)
ahh each to their own i guess im hoping that because the car is black it will hide the rubber bead for the grille and make it blend better
