another little update with some of the other things ive been up to.
i decided my boot build was less than impressive. so i decided it could do with a good spruce up.
heres how it looked before, pretty grey....
so i started tearing it all apart...
got the metal logos off one of the amps so i could paint it properly
hand painted the black parts of these
masked the amps up for paint
came out pretty good. didnt even bother with any primer lol
i then turned my attention to the bootlid.... the paint was a bit rough and i didnt like the grey carpet... and i was holding a black rattle can.... why the hell not?
before...
after
more stickersssss
and here how it looks now, pretty pleased with it! matches the style of the car better now
and since i still had some stickerbomb left... this will look better once ive done the door cards in black
a few cheeky slices of retro
and speaking of retro, i switched up my side window stickers a bit (terrible photo)
down and out sticker, courtesy of roofless
also fitted mt springalex wheel
and finally, i had a play around with my dads sprite hubcaps. looks pretty cool, but i dont think they fit the look im going for

dem Wheels!!! Hub caps make a massive difference . hows it driving with them guessing is a bit more sprightly with lighter wheels? also did to do the boot lining yourself or buy a kit of some kind?

Thought it looked good with the banded steels but then you added the hubcaps and it went to another level! Awesome!

yeah the steelies are a bit heavier than the ultralites, and has made it a little bit twitchier to drive (tho not much) ... still, im not building a race car

I DID A BAD THING!!!
yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaah....
i shouldnt be left alone with ebay or stuff like this happens haha. anyway, after doing a bit of thinking, i realised that i was probably going to end up spending around 2 grand on having a new diff fitted and getting the 295 head rebuilt, so i decided that it would be better to just put the money into another engine.
so, what we have here is a 1275 A+ (i think) with all the gubbins that belong with it. the only work i know of is that its had the 940 head skimmed. apparently its was only taken out because he wanted to fit a 1380, and only had one small oil leak from the rocker cover. the plate with the engine number on is missing but has a metro rocker cover fitted... probably just added by the previous bloke. all in all im pretty pleased with what i got for £550
it was described as in perfect working order, and basically ready to be fitted after a good tidy up, but i wont be sure of that until i fire it up for the first time. he sent me a link to a video of the engine in the car and running two weeks ago although there seems to be bit of a weird knocking noise. i hope someone can reassure me ... at the end of the day though, if it needs a rebuild then im not too fussed as it is something that i want to learn, plus it would give me a chance to maybe upgrade a couple things
heres a link to the video:
and here is the original listing: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123
