Interesting engine number on the logbook. Not an original one.
Is this something to do with the performance conversion?

Great project!
in malta, a mini traveller in that condition would go straight to the scrapheap....as it is speedwell tuned are you going to keep the original engine?

Yea will be keeping the original engine is possible. It will need a rebore and most of its internals replacing but hopefully we will keep its original head and block.

I have noticed the comments on your engine number and I was wondering if there is anything special about my number in my 1963 Woody, The number is 8AM-U-H/637364 ?
Any Ideas as it is quite close to yours

Not really looked in to the engine numbers to be honest. Not done a lot with the car at all. Waiting got the better weather.
My dad has been speaking to the DVLA and the local council of where the car was registered after a few long emails and some phone calls it all paid off as last week the V5 for her came though the post!

Good news, now you won't have any worries when it's restored, and it'll all be on original plates, documents etc.
Gonna be a pretty rare, special car to have

I guess when the original log book was filled in the dealer missed off the pre-fix number and letters. (8A?? -H******).

Well my dad did a bit more.
He stripped the front subframe which looks in really good nick and can be reused as can the arms, hubs and drums after a good shot blast.
He also stopped the far backs off the radius arms at the back. But I forgot to get any pics. One of the radius arms has rotted can can't be reused but everything else looks good which is all good as we want to use as many of the original bits.
That is about it for now but now it looks like the better weather is coming we can crack on with this!

Great little project you have there. A lot of work required though. I will be watching with interest, as I have a Mini Estate (Countryman) lined up as my next project, once I have finished my Mini 1000. Good luck!

Right small update. Bits are still being taken to bits and cleaned up.
While at a car show a few weeks back some guy came over to me and said he had a boot full of mini parts that had been in his garage for years and he wanted to sell them I went to take a look and found these in a box and he only wanted a fiver! I do love a bargain.
Great find as its one of the few bits that were missing when we got the car.
Also though a friend I tracked down someone that had a full set of the wood for the outside that he had bought for a project years ago but ever used. My dad is gonna go and take a look at it this weekend and as long as its as good and it looks in the pics that will be another big part of the project bought.
If its all good I'll get some pics when it is home.
Cheers.

Well I have been in Somerset for the weekend but while I was down there my day picked up the wood!
Which is now taking up more space in my bedroom lol.
