Really I would like to find a whole smooth roof in good nic but if thats not possible then that could be a plan. The car will be going in to Olds_Kool_Lews at some point I expect to have the worst of the work done and to be painted so I guess we will wait and see what he thinks is best. He done my red saloon and has done an ace job so trust his judgement. That a while off yet though.

That's a big challenge! Am loving the state of the fuel tank and also the "lightened" rear subframe. Bit of P38 & some chicken wire & they'll go again!

I had a rear subframe on my mini like that. I thought it was a lightweight version or something. Good luck.

Cheers guys. I could not believe it when we picked the car up. I had never seen a subframe in such bad nic. I need to look more in to the subframes on this. As its an early one but not hydro so I need to find out if there are any differences between these and the later dry ones.

There are yes but they can be converted to my understanding, only difference on the rear subframe is the exhaust hangers not being welded on like they have for later MPI minis, the rear subframe trunnions are both stepped unlike later minis so that something else to consider too.
The front subframe is twim bolt tower mounted on pre-76 minis and usualy they don't often need work or replacing as there quite shielded unlike the rear subframe from the road muck ect..
Just some things i,ve learnt over my mini years haha :)

Nice to see another one being saved. My mates parents used to have one and I remember them telling me that the battery used to jump up and down and spark out on the underside of the rear seat scaring the crap out of the rear passengers. God knows why they didn't fix it!!
These do look absolutely superb when restored and I can't wait to see this done

Well today work! I have a job now and have to work Sundays which sucks but my dad cracked on this morning. First of all by heading down to southampton to pick up his new roof!
By the time he got back and started on the car I got home. So we cracked on and removed some bits!
Today we stripped out the wipers and motor and the brake and clutch reservoirs. I hate that brake roll pin so much!
Stripped out the inside.
and got the car sat on a pallet.
and a few other bits as well that I cant remember off the top of my head now lol.
Didn't take any pics as I went long but here is a few of how she sits now.
