so after a hot day at the retro show going down santapod I couldn't turn my car off because id have to wait for it to cool before it would go again, so in preparation for MITP!!! I'm looking at electric fans

is there any possible reason why I should spend 107 quid (21.4 hours of my working life) on something like this ...

http://www.minisport...0_HP_S_12V.html

or will this be sufficient

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a274eaeb0

wasn't gona bother with a temp switch just a manual one on the dash, what do people think/experienced

Do you mean to put on the inner wing or in front of the engine?

I've got one like the ebay one as standard in my car. I think it works well and you can feel quite a lot of air being pushed out the front wheel arch when you stand next to it. So yh that fan should be sufficient. If you have a modded engine, then go for that mini sport one as that seems a bit more powerful.

I have a manual switch to it on my dash.

I didn't use the crap things which came with mine and cable tied it to the inner wing mesh, and ran the wires though the mesh.

I've got my electric fan mounted directly on the back of the radiator using these http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a0bb30379.

It took a little bit of modification to the inner wing to get it in but it works really well.

If the fan is mounted on the outer side of the inner wing then you wont get the maximum draw through the radiator

Not to be funny, but make sure that it's wired to suck air through the rad and not push air back into the engine bay, it would defeat the object of drawing it out. I had a leccy wire mine up the wrong way around, boy was that fun.

I use one of the ebay ones and it works really well mounted directly to the radiator. no problems at all. will pull the the temperature down from 3/4 to 1/2 when i turn it on.

This is the same as my set up and works great, highly modified 1275 sat in the queue trying to get into Brighton on the L2B no problems what so ever. Couple of points to note fans come in slimline or standard, I fitted a slimline fan direct to the back of the Rad as above with some minimal bending of the innerwing.

I fitted one of these 10" works a treat and not too noisy available from places like Rally Design for about £75- http://www.revotecdi...-_Slimline.html

I've got the Kenlowe one on a manual switch via a standard relay and is essential in taffic. Am running 1293cc with retro fitted fuel injection/Emerald into eaton super charger. Just also fitted hugely wide alloy rad to help with cooling, no idea if it works yet, not used car for, erm, ages!
