It is no better fit at all and I haven't even got the steering rack on it. The Phoenix 'clubman' front must be the same length as a round nose, because it needs extending by about 90mm to fit, which I'm not interested in doing.
to make it sit within the Phoenix front end I'd have cut the rear off here (pens mark the spot) and fit the steering rack inside. Or cut the bulkhead drastically and grp a new one in. Which I am also not interested in doing.
Time to order some more cutting discs and have a go at the mini frame.

Just waiting for rover 400, 45 engine mounts to arrive. Look much simpler than mgf ones
Have you decided what to do with the front frame? I've almost finished my mini based frame and fits under a standard round nose with the pg1 box so should fit under the clubman front

Yeah gonna use the mini frame. Just gathering bits. Just bought a mini MPI loom too as they are mems 1.9 so mems 1.9 or 2j or 3 ecu should plug in.

I used the standard ones that came with the engine when I pulled it from the car which was mg zr, engine side and standard bobbin type on the gearbox most people use the rover 400 bubble types on the engine side.
Have a look at my thread to see the frame I built and mounts I used

I used my pipe bender for the first time. It bends round tube and even went well with square tube. I did this:
And then cut out the sides
Just waiting for my engine mounts to turn up and get my engine hoist back off my mate. Then hopefully I'll wriggle the engine in.
