Can you not lean it rather then move it?

I'm afraid not. It would be a very drastic lean and then drive shaft holes would be blocked by the frame.

...although I could tilt it using the drive shaft holes on the frame and gearbox as a point of axis and the just re-do my engine mounts and sump mounts, but I had considered that already, albeit briefly, and it looked like it would foul the master cylinders reservoirs, but I could go for remote reservoirs.
Lots of options really, if it runs like a bag of ******* with new inlet, but we'll see.
I may try and flatten the bottom of the round tube rather than use the square tube. I think ID of inlet goes down to 38mm so area is 1134mm sq an rectangle box is 714mm sq so too restrictive, but I'll double check.

That manifold would have been terrible for flow. Sharp transitions and a dramatic change in profile would kill any air velocity. You're better off either moving the engine forward or maybe getting some 90* bends straight off the flange and up

...no space for bends, that's the issue...

...and it is a 150bhp road car, I am not attempting to squeeze 100% power out of a race engine. Air velocity is not concerning me a great deal. Plus whilst it's apart in can polish all the internals of cast parts, which already angle up to some degree.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained and at £20 a manifold It doesn't matter if it's a fail.

What angle does the bottom of the sump sit at compared to the floor? The k series engines lean forward quite a bit as standard, yours seems to be sitting pretty much straight up and down, although it could just be the angle of the pictures

Mine is pretty flat as you say. I've had two vvc metros tho and don't recall either of those being particularly slanted. Although they were r65 boxes not pg1. I will certainly have a look at tilting it before I do anything else.

Gives you a rough idea on the forward lean in these pictures

Thanks.
I had a look today and tilting it looks like the alternator might hit the frame and possibly leave no space for oil take off plate, without major frame changes,
83FE532D-8283-44D4-B61C-08A13C3476FD_zps
plus new engine and sump mount, so not an easy fix. I will give it a go though when I next take engine out after I've made the jig for new inlet, just to see if it's worth it.
Need to get hold of the oil take off plate to make sure that fits and offer the front end up to make sure the alternator has clearance too.

I also removed, cleaned up and fitted some top arms.

ID of inlet actually goes down to 36mm which works out at 1017mm sq, but internal area of box section is bigger than I thought and is about 840 mm sq. I may make the effort to mod the pedal box a little to get the round tube in at 1257mm sq, it would certainly help with any air flow issues.

Are you using the standard oil filter set up or a remote one? I take it it'll be remote given the space you have to work with?

Here is the remote filter take off I have ordered from jlhmorrisminors. I was going to make one, but this is exactly what I was going to make, so silly not to...

Little alternator that jlh used on their moggies looks just the ticket too!
