Any other dizzy options that people recommend? Aldon are expensive and if I need a rolling road as well then cost is going up.
To get the best out of any change/mods I would suggest a rolling road session, so that's not going to be just for the aldon.
With out a matched fuel curve (needle) to a new distributor it may end up worse.
If your happy with the engine the way it runs, the plugs are the right color and its not over heating then you might be best just leaving it alone if your happy with the way it drives and the mpg you get.

H&H Ignition Systems you can give them a ring they have done several re-profiled curves for me in the past and on customers cars, and they also do new for the A and A+ in electronic or points give them a ring on 01384 261500
There about the £160 mark so near the Aldon price?

The weird problem is it hesitates coming out of slow right hand corners. At NO other time does it do this. Can't suss it out.

This dizzy has the vacuum advance. Would it just connect to one of the twin carbs? Cheers guys.

That part number identifies the distributor as a 65DM4 for a 1990- Cooper 1275, the advance curve is not what a 998 engine wants, a 1275 will run with a 998 curve far better that a 998 on a 1275 curve, in fact Calver states its not even advisable to try. So back to plan B I'm afraid, Is you 998 a A+ or Non?
The vacuum advance comes of the inlet manifold take off, this senses engine vacuum

So the dizzy should be ok then. Is there any way of testing a dizzy off the car? How can I identify between a and a plus? Cheers.
Sorry for the massive thread hijack.

It that case it will fit and be thereabouts on the curve as you dont have a different cam. You could certainly use a HIF44 in place of the twins on a MG Metro Manifold or a after market one, as for testing the distributor other than sucking the vac advance to ensure it working and a visual your beat unless your near someone like Aldon or H&H who have the testbed.
