For a while I have been looking for replacement stripes for the side of my classic Mini Cooper sport sportspack. They are definitely OEM but they seem to be different to other similar yeared minis. They are platinum in colour and the top stripe is 2mm in depth and the bottom is 1mm in depth.

When I asked Somerford I got this response:

Now that is the 60 million dollar question! My colleague here has never heard of this, nor have we had one in the workshop and certainly no UK spec one did.

However I have spoken to a guy in the workshop and somewhere in the depth of his brain he has a feeling that just maybe, there was a German Spec oMpi which came out before the UK spec which had them. He seems to recollect it might have been called something like a silver bullet or something similar to that. But he couldnt be 100% as it is just niggling around in the back of his mind somewhere..

Now I know I can get the stripes made up so replacing them is not really an issue. I however know this isn't a German car so anyone have any ideas? It's a Y reg Tahiti blue with platinum roof and decals. It's not a 500.

Anyone or any ideas?

Silverbullets did indeed have silver stripes. I removed mine but for a respray, i will dig out a picture of mine when i had them for comparison

Martin at stickifingers have some of these stripes for sale

Top is coloured and bigger than bottom stripe which is white

Yep it's not a problem getting them made its more that I'm interested in the story behind them :)
