My sons mini mayfair has 7JJ X13 inch performance wide  wheels with 175/50r13 tyres fitted to it

He had a close shave when two of the securing studs on one of the front wheels sheared, because the other two had worked loose

The alloy now has two elongated holes.

Question 1 The wide wheels were fitted to the car when we bought it are they ok for this car

Question 2 Does anyone know if i can get the elongated holes repaired, where I live in Hampshire and will the wheels still be safe

I am not sure why the two nuts came off, we have owned the car for eight months but for most of that its been garaged and its just had an MOT

I am thinking off returning the mini to its 145/70R12 5069

It is possible to do a repair, but it can be quite expensive.

The car will have better wet road-holding, better wet stopping ability, better wet & dry handling and have longer lasting wheel bearings and suspension components on 145 or 165 x 12" tyres/wheels.
