glad to see you still got this keep going as for boot struts the ones on my 86 mg have failed miserably too! sucks keep up the good work

Cheers Lucas, next thing I want to do is the sunroof somehow, a while ago I posted pictures of the rot through in some areas in the channel, I tried my best to seal it on a temporary basis and that has proven unsuccessful.

It is a pain with the failing boot struts isn't it, surprising how heavy the damn tailgate is!

Hi Folks, hope you all had a good Christmas and new year :)

Well the weather seemed still a little cold today, but good enough for me to get out and do some work on Cuey of the inner wing rust that's been bugging me for a while now, having left the wing half bolted on for so long I thought I'd better do something on him instead of the mini.

I started by making a repair panel for what I thought was the majority of the repair, although when I came to cut out the (first layer) of rusty inner wing, it soon became apparent that it was two layers of rust :ohno:

So more work, I'm happy still but it's just going to take a little longer I guess.

Today I've only managed to get one piece welded in to keep the engine bay and bulkhead water tight just in case it rains, but the next priority will be the lower section which I shall call the inner wing box section thingy ma bob :proud: .

Hi Ben, Thank you :)

Still a lot to do in this area mind...

The blob of weld on the inside showing the penetration was because I was a bit too violent with the grinder and I slit into the metal I didn't want too

I think I may look into modifiying the design of this cavity if I can't replicate it to a near perfect copy of the original, it's such an overly complex layer of panels in this area and I can't see the need for the weird shapes to be honest..

I'll defiantly be doing as much seam welding as I can, because as you can see the main rot is in the cavity and within the spot welded seams.

I really wish i never got rid of mine

They're still cheap little motors Rob, it's never too late :)

As above Rob, get some pictures up!

I have done a little more on Cuey today, just inspection and thinking really though if I'm honest, will more than likely be cracking on with the inner wing tomorrow :)

I've got no idea how i missed that!
Yeah i'm thinking of starting a project thread for it, but apparantly (highly unlikely) the only rust is inside the filler cap. And i'm STILL thinking about putting 10's on her

Looks good Rob! :D

Has it had a new front wing ? if so that's a good point already as everyone seems to be wanting them at the minute.

That interior looks lush too, is it leather or fabric ? :)

Update on Cuey coming tonight :)

Yeah its had a pair of front wings, they havent been fitted very well. Theres a few patches behind them i want to sort.

The interior is honestly a mess. The dash, roof clock, centre console are pretty clean. The seats are cloth. It all needs a real deep clean. Drivers seat needs replacing as the cloth is too far gone, and the tilt doesnt work.
