Yeah I have to prop mine open with a rake if I'm cleaning the boot out, surprising how heavy the tailgate is without any struts at all on.

Hello folks, another lovely day todaa......oh wait, well atleast i still got some work done haha

Wanted to re-grease all the pivot points so took the wheels off one by one and got the grease gun out....

Heres the front offside toparm area (i do belive its had no lock tabs and possibly balljoints ?) and the tabs are not tapped over correct ?:

Front floor jacking point rusted and needing attention:

Thought i might aswell give the wheels a clean from barake dust....

Before:

After:

I do belive these are what needs trimming flat ?, i feel using a lathe would be better:

4 pot calipers in gold (hubs are also gold):

DSCF2111_zps4c7e44ac.jpg

Old grease coming out he rear radius arm, i think it needed a regrease  :

After id cleaned up the wheels and wheel trim:

So after the dirty stuff was done i went in, cleaned myself up with clean clothes) and started on the interior.

First up was to T-Cut with windows and start getting rid of the windscreen rubber brown stuff, i would at this point have a picture below but its just glass thats clean

So moving on!......

I thought id clean some interior parts...

Dash mat:

Also foound this under the seat, theres another mating connection at the front of the seat (second picture):

DSCF2122_zpsdb12a284.jpg

Any idea ?

The dreamer in me says heated seat but i doubt it haha

Thats it for this update folks, the metro's test begins this weekend as it'l be doing a 200 mile round trip up cumbria with me behind the wheel so look out for me up the A6   ;D

P.S. the seat covers are staying because there amazing :highfive:  :bah:

I had an X reg Metro VP for my first car, front ball joint broke while driving, killed it. The passenger seat had a sensor that detected if someone was sitting there, seat belt warning.

Shame about the Metro, but was the sensor only in the passenger seat ? sounds weird Haha.

I'l be looking into getting anything that Cuey may be missing in the near future after it's in a garage when I've sold the Mk2 min.

I'll have to investigate further in the wiring then, It hasn't ever been connected to anything and I couldn't find any wiring to plug into.

That dealer is asking a pretty penny for it isn't he!, they are both in beautiful condition though.

I've no idea if it has I'm afraid, I can't recall any from memory.

my mk1 HLE has got seat sensors in it and a light on the dash to tell you when your not buckled up. that's factory original too.

mind you, mine also has the black plastic vents above the rear taillights (only visible when the tailgate is up) according to some these were only fitted on very early turbos, but these are factory too. anyone else got them??

Interesting, I can't recall mine having that light on the dash.

I can confirm that the 3 door Vanden Plas have them all also :)

the bulb has gone in mine now though, I rather naughtily got into a bad habbit of driving with no belt on and that saw it off, but having got fined for it I soon started wearing it again!

I thought they were just fitted to all early metros to be honest so thanks for helping confirm that. false info I was given by a bloody knowitall lol!

My later mk2 doesn't have them flaps on the outside at the rear I can confirm. Just like a vent/rust trap for me haha.

Hi Guys,

So I've been charging the battery up over the past few days and guess what ?............it started first time!!!! in the freezing cold as well! :D .

I'm surprised and a little chuffed at CUEY for managing to get going so easily on the key :proud: .

So here is a video (of terrible phone quality) of Cuey running, if not a little screechy because of the fan belt and obvious cold temperatures.

Excuse the odd sniffle from me, got a cold from being out for 5 minutes :teehee:

Cheers,

Cliff
