Ooo what a beaut Nath!! , mk2 im guessing ?

I'm tempted to keep it to be honest, so much love for him at the mo but if a buyer doesn't come along then obviously i'l keep it, thing is i need the money for driving lessons :) decisions......

Mig is working fine (another mig welder we have) and i'm using gas, getting the bottles from a place local called hobby weld for £30 :) instead of BOC bottles at £70 a throw!

And thanks, i've seen one for sale thats a possible buy though and time is short to get it sorted to be used in a few weeks by a family member for a few days.

Just going to update this in a mo...

Cheers, a mk2 GTA. In white. Even rarer! A few annoying problems, and needs a load of tidying up but it's a full working car so it's gonna be a rolling restoration. :proud:

And even if you sell it to pass your test, you'd need to buy something to drive... :shifty:

Good call with the hobbygas place. We use Cheshire gas but same rent free principle :D

Ooo get you with your GTA :P , so whats the plans, i think it looks good enough to keep original with a few performance tweeks but didn't you say you wanted a rally replica ?

True true, we will see......

Today i got abit more on the bumper done, finished painting up some of the brackets a chassis black (brush painted), don't think they'll be rusting anytime soon!.

Also stripped and cleaned the fog lights, only required abit of white spirits and a rag to bring them both up to a nice finish.

Nah, with the GTA it's a full tidy up and 2 cibies. That's it. Too good to molest.

Nice work. Impressive finish on the bracket! Thought it was powdercoat at first

Ahh glad to hear it, do metro's look good with spots ? i've seen a few but not convinced myself, also do you mount off the bumper ?

Thanks nath, i actualy used chassis black painted on thick with a brush, theres a top secret old skool trick to getting a good finish, i sorta did it here but you could get a top notch outer body finish if you wanted :)

Hopefully tomorrow i'l get all the brackets re-furbed and welded on and maybe even get the whole lot finished off.

Lovely metro Lucas, two questions for you though... Whats the material of the splitter and were did you get it from ? and are those mk1 light easy to find these days and would you think its a good idea to use them on mine or are they dim or anything ?

Yeah i think they are the older style (which is weird because mines 83 mk1 so should have them right ?) and just in my opinion look better.

Don't think i have to worry about brightness as i've just been given some of those fancy xeon things

She's known as Val :P the reg was valued at £600, the previous owner with the idea of a track that never got finished I'm sure whether to continue with it or go back to standard
