Suspension raised, handles painted, mouth meshed. Sorted out all of the interior trim so that the 3 door MG Metro carpet actually fits snug with no gaps. Nice new number plates among many other things I'm no doubt missing. Alternator removed, manifold removed ready for the new timing belt/water pump/alternator.

Got the rear spoiler drilled up and fitted ready for Simon to paint it some time in the next month.

I bought a set of older style clocks for the speedo. They're wired differently between the A and K series so we're eventually going to rewire the connectos so that I can use the whole binnacle including the rev counter etc

and I bought these on Ebay

We're going to be doing the cambelt after L2b and a mad rush to finish Simons Mini for it, which still needs the engine putting back in, MOT and tracking in 4 days  :D FUN.

and then MOT for Rita. Plan is that at the start of June they'll both be driving and we'll be driving together AT LAST :D

Oh also she's on the road. Flew through the MOT, only advisory on my retest was 'Object removed from rear view mirror prior to test', a few very small problems on the initial test which were the washer jets, just swapped the motors round, headlamp adjustment out and horn not working. Amazing for a car which has been through so much and changed so drastically since it's last test!

I've done about 4-500 miles in her so far and am loving it, but already feel the need for more power  :shifty:

I was slightly considering it but in my heart of hearts I wanted to keep them. I found a Metro cabriolet for sale I wanted, but didn't tell Simon or anybody I was planning on bidding so I didn't get told off :P I decided if I wanted it enough with an hour to go and found a buyer for the wheels, I'd have a bid, but decided again it.

I'd hold on to them...unlikely to find another metro PCD set

Cabriolet...horrible looking yet I'd have one in a flash :D

It was charcoal grey, super rare colour, only ever seen it on very few R114 GTA's and it's rare even on them, on a cab I've never seen it and doubt I ever will again! It had no mot or tax but I just saw it and decided I needed to have that junk, but it went for far too much in the end

She's been to Holland

10514528_473491862787550_723761426558307

Whilst there we fitted my GTI interior which came from a LHD car so the drivers seat is perfect :D

and the IMM

and we had a mad week after the IMM visiting a whole host of places. Brands Hatch summer Wednesdays:

I am loving driving her but she needs to be faster already  :D

So we had a fun day yesterday, trying to turn two Minis into one...

10409708_737780266276519_712302797789990

It didn't really work!

But in the evening time was better spent picking up my new Ebay special. It's a Rover 114GSI which failed it's MOT on a few things, namely rust of course. The front and rear subframe mounts are both gone, it's been rear ended and is generally shoddy...

10731013_514974458639290_616621000775395

So why did I buy this I hear you say?

Because of THIS!:

10003431_515944408542295_161358960191502

10703532_514974461972623_627161684136070

Full GSI interior trimmed in leather. This was an option on the Rover 114GSi but not many people took it at all. I saw a set in a car a few months ago and fell in love, but I thought my hopes of finding one were slim to none. £150 and a trip to Bexhill later and she's home and ready to be broken! If anybody needs anything, let me know!

I am absolutely over the moon with the interior and can't wait to get it fitted into Rita :D

Those that have followed the thread will have noticed she's a 1.4 with a 1.1 engine. My original donor was a 1.1 but had everything to convert to manual. This 114GSI is a 1.4 SPI and so will be going into Rita. We converted Rita into MPI at the same time as the manual conversion, but with a simple flywheels swap i'll have a 1.4 MPI which will be nippy enough for now :-)

Excellent find on the interior.

They are different to the seats we were discussing last year but still look great.

when are they going in?
