I managed to fix the Gunsons Analyzer I have on loan (blocked port on the collector box!). Best I could set the the CO to was 2.9% (when idling lopey between 1050 and 1100rpm). Getting a lower CO reading by either dropping the idle and/or leaning the mixture just resulted in really bad idle that would stall with a blip of the throttle. I'm reasonable happy with the 2.9% figure but will ask the local garage to double check that figure on their pro equipment before taking to the road and running the engine in.

Just Can't Get This Engine/carb To Tune Well (Fresh Build)...

Please stop idling this engine and run it theres no point at fine tuning idle now..figures will change again..youre setting nothing.
You really need to put load to the engine, also because prolonged idle can even damage a new built engine.

That was definately the last time I intend to fire the engine up before taking it out on the road. This really wasn't about trying to fine tune the mixture, more about trying to (quickly) get to the bottom of conflicting data (AFR indicating rich/erratic, but throttle blip indicative of lean or a leak on the inlet).
I'll post an update once I've had it out on the road... hopefully by the tail end of next week.
