I'll have that! I'll add it to my stockpile of navy GT trim!
The 10s are on my wife's GT - see the project thread for Delilah in my sig.
I think some nuts that work would be easy to make out of some stainless 11/16" hex bar
Your GT is truly stunning. My nuts are 7/8" so even bigger, I've already got the bar, I'm just waiting for lathe access, I'll let you know how i get on.
So weekend update.
So my top engine steady had snapped into the block. So I've whacked on an Ultimate engine steady until I can try and get the broken stud out! I understand the short comings of only having this steady, with the torque of the flywheel being on the otherside of the engine, but it's infinitely better than having the engine trying to smash my carb through the front bulkhead. Brilliant buy off ebay, and bolted straight on without issue. It's the minisport kit. The engine doesn't move at all now! completely changed the way it runs.
I've also addressed the non functioning speedo, turns out the cable had disintegrated at the gearbox end. Tried fitting a new cable and this didn't work as the speedo drive was clogged with the remains of the old cable! So I had to remove the drive, clean the remains out, then reinstall with a new cable, very long winded, but I now have a functioning speedo. Actually the entire dash now functions perfectly.
So the GKN's have been retired, the tyres where too much and really affected the handling. As well as rubbing the rear inner wheel arches made carrying passengers impossible. So steels and Denovo hub caps for me now!
It's lost all of it's stance and the coolest wheels ever made for a GT but I've gained back a drivable car! So a compromise I can live with. I'm still not sure what I'm doing with my sets of GKN's, the refurbished set are now destined for my dad's GT, and I can't afford to re-tyre the set I just removed, so it'll be steels for a while!

Thankyou :) I do miss the GKN's though.
My dad's is the Inca Yellow GT. It's a April registered 1979 GT. Despite being an early 79 car it has gutter cut outs and black trim. It's immaculate but sadly its engine let go on the way to the Gaydon British leyland show.

I saw! lucky for me I suppose, He'd listed it on ebay on the saturday/sunday, I'd rang and provisionally bought it on the monday and drove down with a trailer on the Thursday!
The white one is a 1972 Glacier white Clubman saloon. My grandad bought the car in 1978 so it's a bit of a family heirloom. It's been through a lot during its life but I can trace it's entire history. Its the last of the remote change cars, and I'm currently conducting its 3rd full restoration. It's being built to GT S spec this time around, so full GT running gear, brakes, interior, small shell changes such as a boot board, and MK3 cooper S touches like twin tanks and twin carbs. I've sourced everything I need and the shell is in amazing nick. It's had some poor repairs in the past so I'm rectifying these before its sent it off to the painters. It's my long term project!
Thats the Janspeed exhaust my dad installed in 1992 on this car, and is now on my GT.

Ah I'm doing a half rear end on the white one as it was deseamed and a bit tatty. It also has speaker holes i made repair sections and welded them up.
I've only actually got the one grill with a decent leyland centre which is on the car, I do have a new old stock late grill, but I'm hanging onto that until i can find a centre to match.

Ah rite.yeah there was a few on eBay grilles but non about at mo I'll have keep eye out. I do have a mint one but for black gt.what engine is in your dads then
The yellow GT still has it's original engine. We're unsure who assembled the engine, but the machine work was done at Morspeed in Coalville, it was taken out +60", and had unleaded valve seats put in and a general refresh. Since we've had it (around 5-6 years) It's only accumulated around 500 miles. This was mainly due to reliability issues. We never had any faith that it would start! Turns out a faulty battery earth cable was responsible for the stating and electrical issues. I conducted a top end rebuild early in the summer due to poor compression on 1 cylinder, caused by a really poorly lapped in valve. It then ran beautifully for the next few weeks and then on the way to Gaydon BL show we think the big end bearing let go. My dad thinks the end-float on the crank wasn't set properly, either way it died and sounded like someone dropping cans into a food blender. I'll try and get some pictures when I took the head off, it's a real shame cause the block looked stunning. I've yet to touch it after that happened though. It's such a shame though as the rest of the car is stunning. which is odd as my GT is ugly as hell, yet goes like a train! My dad's trying to steal my engine....
Hi Cliff, Thankyou for your kind words :) I was really pleased how it came up aswell! the head was even better! I used a soft-ish wire brush on a corded drill. I just made sure I was careful not to apply to much pressure. The block is so hard though being iron you can get away with it.
So todays update is possibly the best one to date, but I'll let a picture do the talking.

Not at all, Thats how my dad told me to do it! so only too happy to pass on the advice.
I keep forgetting my names not on here, my names Joe haha
Ah that's a shame bout your dads gt.and love the wheels really nice
I'm so happy about the wheels, only took me 5 years to source a set, then 5 months to have them refurbished with new tyres!
I just need to collect them now, nice trip back to Gaydon!

So the order of the day today was rear brakes! For those following this thread will know I fitted brand-new back plates and minifins. But despite this there was an odd noise coming from the rear under braking. So I bit the bullet and pulled the drums off, to find the return spring was upside down and rubbing on the hub! In fact it'd starting scouring its own little line into the hub! So much for buying built backplates to make it easier, so I flipped the spring and it's fine now! I also just a lot of niggly things like my engine steady keeps undoing itself. I also advanced the ignition to 12 degrees BTDC from 5, and it now revs out so much quicker, has some real top end punch!
Next job is a new steering rack as mine has quite a bit of play and is quite scary to drive along an uneven straight road!
