I could only resist so long....

So a few nights ago I stumbled upon a veritable treasure trove of Mini challenge pictures.

Being late I decided since I had the hardest part to source I may as well create a bit of a Challenge replica and  I went crazy on the internet.

This is the first of a lot I've ordered...

Thoughts?

These are great - and they look good fitted on your car too!

I must admit I've had these in my eBay watch list for ages but I just can't buy them - my car is slightly too old but more to the point I don't have any ST parts fitted.  I'm tempted by some of the Castrol GTX stickers though......

As do I, I've still got a massive list of the external stickers and a Leyland ST sunscreen strip that I've had in my watching for months that I'm yet to order. I can't decide whether to go both barrels and go for the full on challenge look, or keep it relatively subtle. I just can't decide as these have worked so well but it could go either way.

My only ST part is the wheels, oh and the steering wheel is right for the period, well it's the same wheel thats in the works TR7 V8. I do have twin HS4's and a RH tank with the correct bootboard but I'm saving them for the early GT project.

Of course, I bought them through this ebay store, they're vinyl so just press onto the glass, no sticky required.

I was also thinking this, I can't find any decent pictures anywhere else.

I ordered these as alternative to the A panel badges and was very impressed.

So a quick update today, Consisted of some adjustments to the breather pipes, and some lead additive! I do know how to entertain! Oh and a much needed wash!

I also put these on, I love them as an alternative to the A panel badges. Apologies for the water marks it rained just after I washed it!

Instead of working on the mini, as it's working with no issues to report (touch wood) I went for a little blast instead.

I've never had a roundnose or a small bore! I have to say though I'm much more of a sucker for the older stuff, s'all about the 70's mini's! I think the only roundnose that'd tempt me away would be a mk3 Cooper S. Almost bought one last year as well....

I'm glad you've enjoyed the thread it's been a lot of fun to write, it's all gone a bit quiet now as she's running and driving beautifully, only thing left is to shell out on a paintjob!

Well that and the rod selector seal...

and maybe some more go faster parts, cylinder head, rolling rockers...

and maybe a supercharger...

Amen to that! Love the earlier 60's / 70's stuff so much more than the later stuff........dunno why.  Mk3 Cooper S would be on my list too - saw one at a classic car show last year and it became an instant favourite.

There's just something about the earlier cars, and not just because they're made better! I'd love a mk3, as much as I admire the mk1 & 2 I want to own a mk3 more. I've been looking for a suitable car for ages, finding a car with an original shell is hard! Out of the 8 or so I've seen only 4 had original shells, one was far to expensive, one was just a little too ropey, one I missed out on on ebay, and the last one the guy pulled the car from under me and sold it to someone else.  :(  So I'll just stick with my GT's for now, I've always got my ear to the ground though!

Since the weather was so nice this weekend I decided to conduct some routine maintenance.

So the order of the day was a nice and simple oil and filter change along with a new rod change seal.

I'd been a little naughty when I picked up the car it had already been emptied of oil and after I'd checked everything I just topped it up. I should really have flushed it, but i was too eager to get her running!

So I'm viewing this as her running in service. :)

Very odd sump plug, which I'd feared was an expanding one, but luckily it wasn't!

I'm running out of my supply of these!

All topped up and ready to do, and my lovely rocker cover.

Helping my friend do exactly the same!

Isn't she a pretty girl!

Sucessful weekend miniing and I gave her a good blast after!
