Sp the verdict is try and get genuine??
Yes....it would seem that some of this cheap stuff is possibly out of spec and at worst, substandard and dangerous.

Google should bring up some answers for you. There is one thing I would like to add regarding the greasing up of your bearing. You showed a pic of the race seated in the hub and the bearing in your and. You quoted that the bearing was greased. To me it was not. LM grease needs to be packed in really good, from the top side and the underside. If not your bearings will dry out quite quickly.
Cheers

Where's the best place other than minispares (cost to much postage to Channel Islands) that I could get some?
Have you phoned them up? Sometimes the website does silly things with postage, if you talk to them they can usually sort something out.

No problem. The more grease, the merrier. Once the bearing has been packed, slot it into the race and check it moves freely. The grease will give a slight bit of resistance and rotate smoothly.

Hehehe...yes quite. How much cheaper is some of this junk compared to buying OEM? I would have thought that the british motorist has become normalised to being ripped off, and that a Hokey-Kokey Bearing Co wheel bearing for a tenner against a genuine bearing for £25 was not a consideration.
I try as far as possible to only buy genuine - when yo live on the other side of the world, with freight and customs duty to worry about, a tenner here and there makes no sense.

Fossy,
I to live on an island but there’s no mini parts shop,
its not all about money you pay for what you get,
if you replace with a genuine part which has been proven to work, and not a Patten part you will keep your mini more (lol) reliable . More driving more fun, unless you like fixing it every weekend.
