Hi

just picked up my 1962 mini the other day and there are 4 lights on the binnicle;

Ignition - obvious at 5 oclock

Indicator at 3 oclock (same light lights for both directions)

but there are 3 others:

- a blue "H/B" and something else at 7 oclock

- another orange at 9 oclock (is this suppose to light up for the left indicator and its just wired wrong???)

- another smaller light just about the 50 speed mark (12 oclock)

- there is also a blue switch on the side of the cluster which doesnt do anything.  Any idea what that could be for?

If anyone could let me know what these are supposed to be for that would be great.

only thing i cant seem to find is the hazards switch, assuming 1962 cars had them?   I have heater, wiper, lights and choke on the centre switch panel

I also take it these cars didnt have any temperature guage... .

thanks in advance!

Derek

green is indicators

orange is oil pressure warning, the other orange is filter change warning (not used on all models)

blue is high beam

red is ignition light

I would imagine your correct about hazards being down to age, my 1955 Landrover doesn't have them

water temp and oil pressure came with the 3 clock set up...speedo with 2 small smiths clocks either side

No hazard flasher because of its age, the switch at the side is to switch the back light on/off for the speedo.

I thought early mk1s had indicator flashers on the actual stalk and not on the dash?

EDIT As above, blue H/B = high beam, red = indicators, orange = oil. Other orange = nothing probably.

No hazards.

It has the wrong speedo fitted for its year, it should be a silver faced one it looks like a mk2 onwards one.

The MK1 speedo does not have the green light at 12 o clock, the indicatro light is at the end of the stak.

grrr, another item to replace then as i want the van to be original once restored  >_<

yes it has the bulb on the end of the stalk - well i've ordered a couple of new bits for this as the bulb is blown/not working and it has no lense.

thanks for the help, i'll try and get it wired up correctly
