This thread has given me an awesome idea.

Basically there is a nice 6 bedroom house near where I live. It really is lovely. My plan is to start a syndicate that will allow me us to buy said house. There's no catch at all. Although you won't technically own any of the house, you're more than welcome to come by and look at the house for free (for the first 6 months of ownership).

I can't actually divulge any more information than this through fear of somebody stealing my idea.

Please PM me for payment details  :)

This is true enough and its a great shame.

The Miniholds a special place in peoples hearts and we are not talking about only mini owners like ourselves visiting, we are talking about a business center, now this will work as companys are now looking for new and unsual places to hold outside conferences such as Nestle...... we talking abotamini driving center with a very special instructor, we are talking about backing formmini mag, a mini show, world interest, great location and not forgetting the history and timeline.....

Thanks

So this is a conference centre/driving centre/museum then?

We had(had being an operative word) set up 2 miles from my house.

Centrex, it ended up being closed down due to fraud!!

Jeff R is this a mini mag thing?

Do you realise exactly how many cars 'one of every Mini model made' would be?  As a rough guess I would conservatively estimate around 250 models worldwide.  I don't imagine your estimated costing for the facility that you have posted above would be enough to cover your first years liability insurance (forgetting for now about car tax, insurance, fuel and maintenance) given the size of the building that this would require and the fact you seem to want all these cars to be driven by the guests.  Driven on public roads or the centre's own network?  How much land would this road network require?  Are you thinking of something like Autopia's road network or are you just letting these cars out in public?  In which case you would essentially be a hire car business.  You want to add a conference centre to this as well?  And why do you think southern Yorkshire is a good location?  What has that got to do with the history of Mini?  Surely somewhere around Birmingham or Oxford would be more suited, if you were around Oxford you could tie in tours of the current MINI plant.

Do you propose a company or a registered charity?  If it's a company are the contributors getting shares in return for this investment?  If not it's all income and you are going to have to declare it.  At the start of this thread you were absolutely suggesting the money would get people a share in the car itself, although you proposed to keep it and be registered keeper.  Later you changed your mind.  This is very suspicious behaviour.

I have never thought that large one-make car collections /museums with lots of rare vehicles all gathered in one place was a good idea anyway........this can be the end result:

If you were to take the mini show scene as a guide then it would appear that this market is shrinking rather than growing. Gaydon a few years ago was rammed and now its on its last legs, the organisers have opened that show up to other marques to generate more interest.

The other shows have gotten smaller as well, Malvern for example.  The exception to this is MITP, thats largely due to the amount other attractions going(non mini based)

Why would people go to your museum to look at minis rather than a mini show?

This is another very good point. I don't know if I am 'mr average' or not, but I don't go to mini shows to see the cars. I suppose I did look for ideas on occasion, but I go either to get bits/ see what's about or some other reason such as at MITP. Looking round the cars is a sort of end of day extra. Would I travel just to look at the cars? I have been to the jag museum before it was closed (notice the word closed) and a couple of others. But almost always because I am near and its a crap day.

Im interested in donating. However, I would like to see where my investment is going. Can you give an address of where your current collection is to view?

I would also like to see the proposed site for the exhibition.

Thanks

I do unfortunatley not know the exact number of Mini versions ever put into production and am finding it difficult to find but I was thinking of first starting to collect the Uk specs then moving forward from there, this will be a life times work to collect all but you have to start some where. Im am not sure about people being able to drive all of these cars due to the rarity and investment levels. The driving would take place on a local deserted air field that backs onto the grounds.Yes to conference center for income purposes, this already exsist. I am from Carterton in Oxfordshire and am am ex BMW Mini apperntice from cowley and ideally would have loved to have had it there but it is just not possible at current due to personal funds and that my current job brings me to south yorkshire where I have stumbled across this site. Yes there will be teething problems not least only having a small collection at current but as I keep saying one needs to start somewhere. Ideally id love to have a few million to buy the collection and site but I dont have those funds. It will be a business and the share option is currently something that is being investigated.  The reason I am now pushing this is that the tunnel mini is coming up for auction otherwise I would suggest it would be 24 months away from now at best. The reason I suggested shared ownership in the car was very simple but after reasearching the parcticality of it with the time frame in mind its a none starter hence the ROI idea. Now this would be me giving away a propotion of my own ownership in the company which takes time to have contracts etc put into place. especially when the company is not yet registered. After quiclkly deciding to put the ides out there and having the response I have had these questions dawned on me hence the chnage of tacked. But I acceplt fully that time is not on my side. So I will be bidding on the car personally and hoping to win it. I will then continue with my plan.

So you're planning on building/opening some kind of museum dedicated to the classic mini, but won't actually be using the word "Mini" or any associated classic mini logos, or branding within in it, or in its marketing then? Or at least I'm fairly sure that's what you'll have to do, if you don't want to end up as yet another victim of BMW's legal team.

The classic car magazines are reporting that Ford (as well as VW and BMW) are also now serving formal legal notices on any companies and traders using the Ford name and brand logos without licence or permission.........
