Rather than comment on other peoples feedback isnt it about time you put your plans on here in black and white then you may get more of a positive feedback when people know exactly what your plans are

An auction purchase by an individual is the best scenario for this MIni and for its current owner Steve.......it will give an indication of its true market value in the real world and the person who wins can then make the difficult decision on what to utimately do with it........as has already been proved on this and several other forums, no group, commitee or syndicate of people is ever going to be able to come to a unanimous agreement on its future destiny, especially if there is any personal financial involvement or risks attached.....

Thats probably the only way you're gonna get the response you were hoping for.

I was thinking about this today and this thread reminds me of the end of the Italian Job, the bus is hanging on the edge of oblivion and Charlie Croaker is saying "'ang on lads I've got an idea"

So you're charlie, the bus/gold is the tunnel mini, how are you gonna save it?

Everything aside the car is an issue as well, its not in the same condition it was in down the tunnel, the roof damage(which was allegedly the reason for it ending up down there) has been popped out.

Plus has been pretty hyped up, its an old shell that was dumped underground and left there, The same car on ebay would be £300 tops.  There's not enough to restore.

Once the hype has died down someone could end up with a hangover and a hole in their pocket.

Hi all,

I have been replying to peoples comments as thats the idea of a forum based discussion. I value everyones comments and appreciate them taking them time to have an input.

Unfortunatly due to inherant lake of interest I do not plan on sharing my plan in full (due to not wanting to lose it) But in short I have a collection on 17 minis already in my personal collection (in various states or restoration) The reason for this collection is I plan to open a Mini attraction centre (mesuem) show casing one of every production Mini every made in its original factory spec or as close to it in some cases. This would be based in the south yorkshire area. The return would come from a stake in my business that I would be offering for people who invest/donate cars that will be on show Hence the tunnel Mini. Ultimatley I plan for the business to own the whole collection but as we know some Minis now make hughe sums of money.

Thanks once again and hopefully I'll see you all one day visiting the mini crazy museum.

Samuel

I don't doubt that this mini has its place in history but sadly somewhat over hyped I feel. The main reason for this is the controversy relating to restoring it or not. Someone with a lot of money will end up with it. I dare say for the money it's likely to go for that you could a couple of fully working, near mint examples. There are many many other cars above this in terms of what I would like to own/view in a museum.

A big mini museum is again something to be questioned. While I underhand the importance of preservation, cars were meant to be driven. I'd rather see them out on the roads.

The Mini would stay in it currrent condition and would not be tampered with in any way what so ever.

The hype is exactly why this car should be purchased and kept as is.

It would be a talking point and along some other famous minis in the same place would be worth every penny.

We all know the car has no real value i.e scrape etc but commerically becasue of the hype it most certianly does. Its what can and will be created around this Mini that has the real value.

Everyone needs to stop thinking this car is going to run away at the auction as real car collector etc buy cars as an investment in there own right, that they INVEST in...... so it will inrease in value because of history, rarity etc etc. They will not want to over pay for something that may never actually increase in its own value, there may be a few.

Tthis is more about keeing in it country for me and having it avaible for people to view and hear the story for years and years to come! weather its controversial or not. Maybe naive but thats how feel.

No one really knows what its gonna do at the auction, its not as though there's anything to compare it with.

My gut feeling is it will go for silly money, its unique and thats enough to make people go all silly and gooey.

I think it will do a minimum of £10k and possibly up to mid £20's if people get caught up in in.

What do you think it will fetch?

These cars would be avialble to drive and will be driven.  I am a petrol head and believe that cars where built to be driven that would be the true essence or my attraction but thats more detail. I am not creating some where minis would be held to never move or be driven again.

I think it may go as high as 10,000 but this is different to other cars, it may make 500 due to the controversy.

I think it will either go silly or fall flat. I wouldn't be surprised at 15k, but I wouldn't be surprised at £500 either!

Recently the 15th oldest surviving '59 Mini in need of total restoration went for around £6900 inc premium at Bonhams auction, much of the previous press and media publicity had suggested it would go for at least £10,000.......

Why not just buy it yourself at the auction Minicrazy... seems the simplist way to me, if you want it so badly...?

;D
