Hi all,

My name is Samuel Davies, I am 28 years old and I am a massive Mini fan and have been since I can remember!

I have been sitting on an idea for some years now and think that this may be the opportunity to share it.

I am considering setting up a syndicate to purchase the Long bridge tunnel mini........... Is this something that everyone would look to get involved with?? As i believe it could be done fo as little as £1.00 each if not less.

There is alot more to it my idea and the bigger plan but I believe its our duty as Mini mad humans and british citizens to protect this car from falling into the wrong hands and disapeaing into a collection to never be seen again!

I feel very strongly and passionatly about what im talking about and also feel the idea I have (which this car would be the building block of) could really work and create a unique and very desireble meseaum for future generations to enjoy as we all so far.

Let me know your thoughts please. I can be contacted on sam@minicrazy.co.uk or here.

Please see the link below to the auction site where the car is being sold on the 27th of July.

Kind regards

Samuel

I think you would need to divulge the bigger plan before people to commit to this as even across this community there is divide as to what should happen with the mini in question.

Hi Samuel

I'm sure that in theory a great many people here would be interested in this, although with the estimated amounts that are being talked about for the Longbridge Mini, I'm guessing that you're going to need an awfully big syndicate in order for the investment to be as low as £1 per person.

As usual though, I think many of us will probably want to know a few more details about the idea, before committing to anything.

Hi Carboy001,

I am more than happy to divvulge the plan, I just want to see if there would be any interest before I let people know exact details as untimatly there would be a business venture involved.

Thanks for feeding back.

Samuel

I certainly applaud your enthusiasm but - without wanting to pour cold water on it - would suggest that it is far too late to organise such a venture.  Realistically, you might get dozens or even a hundred fellow enthusiasts together in the time available, which would mean a fairly heavy and open-ended commitment from all of them prior to the auction.

However; unless if you all ready have a campaign up and running, PR lined up and a functioning web-site to explain the project and collect the cash, you aren't going to meet the deadline.

I really hope you can prove me wrong.

Bob

Hi I am a shed dragger, Love the name.

I again apperciate that people will need more info and I am more than willing to share and would not expect anything different from people. Its just very precious to me and I dont want anyone stealing my idea (paranoid I know lol).

I will put a more in depth and detail post together.

Thanks

Samuel

Hi Bob,

I understand your point of view 100% and agree in a way but I truly believe in the british resolve to GET THINGS DONE! I think there is potential in it and have a webiste that is currently under construction and hopefully be completed within the next week. (http://www.minicrazy.co.uk, any feedback on the logo etc greatly recieved) PR is in discussion.

I like a challenge.

Thanks

Sam

Interesting idea, if you can make it work then I'm happy to make a small contribution, as would many other members too I suspect.

Without wishing to sound negative....

I don't see how this can work?

The car is going to make a minimum of £10k and possibly into the middle 20's. That's a lot of 1pound donations.

Then there's on going storage costs. Plus transport costs.

Its a nice idea but sounds like a bag of nightmares to me.

I'll be honest with you. I don't have that much spare cash in this current economic climate. What I do have goes on Midas Parts and our holiday fund. Without wishing to sound rude why would I want to put funds towards a Mini that I am likely never to see? I know it's a time warp car and such things should be saved but this is going to go to a rich collector or a museum. They have far deeper pockets. Then there's the arguments which would follow if your syndicate did win about what to do with it.

In the words of Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden & Theo Paphitis: "I'm out!"

HI Shifty,

The car will make what it makes and from my converstions with various people I dont think it will make as much as the mid 20's. There are differnent people that I have also apporached and am in talks with for let say larger amounts of donations. I dont believe the funds will be an problem.

I have the storage facitilies and would be more than happy to pay the transport costs myself if need be.

Yes there are some legal issues to iron out, for example who would own the car (hence the potential donation avenue) and a clause to stop the resale of it. But these are all things i am i working on and almost there with. Any support will be greatly appericated.

Thanks

HI Mr Bounce,

Now that is a very negative view ;D , there has currently been no mesuem interest in the vehicle as it has been offered to them before the discision to sell was made.

As for rich collectors you may be right but its got to be worth a try........

I apperciate that not everyone has the spare funds in the current climate and other things to be saving towards but there are also alot of people who do and could help. These are the ones I am seeking conversations with. There is also the fact that this may be a long term investment depending on the way thet synidcate is to be created.

The next steps for the car would be very clear and people would have to agree to this before becoming part of the synidcate.

Thanks

Samuel

Out of interest, what are we saving it from? Someone who has just dropped 10k+ on a car isn't going to weigh it in

Hi Mini Luke,

We would be saving it from leaving the county and saving it as a piece of history for generations to come and enjoy to hear the story. The great story of it being found and the great work the current owner has done to save this important piece of ours and the minis history. In my humble opinion.

More and more of the rare and important Minis are disapearing aboard to never been seen again and I see that as a hughe shame.

Lets hope this one one doesnt Max and Paddy.
