working in a polyester film plant has actually come in useful!!!!! who would have thought.

know the feeling, your project is looking good.

Hope to see it at a Scottish mini event in the near future.

Dude, how have I just seen this?! I'm just along the way, got relatives in Lossie too!

I'll have to come see it once you're done, and if you need a hand give me a shout..

Once you're up and running it'd be cool to see it as i'm thinking about Promotive-ing my Mk1 :D

Keep up the good work.

right then folks. since th last update i have been busy sanding and filling and sanding and filling and sanding!!!!! I now have the front end passengers side and rear in first coat zinc primer but.........

for about the eighth time the filler on top of the wings has cracked where the bolts are welded for the flip front hinges. It only happens when the front is lifted to its limit and normally after a good few days of drying.

The cracks are only hairline but i don't think i can paint over them because they will show through. so my question is do you guys know of anything i could use that is more flexible than upol fantastic or will i have to cut the bolts off he inside he wings and weld a plate in so the load is distributed across more of the panel rather than just the two spots where the bolts are welded in???

You need to reinforce the panel, the flex will continue to crack the filler and paint.

right well I have done all of the body work on the car and given it a coat of zinc primer, there are a couple of little bits with pin holes which i will get with some dolphin glaze.

so that left one thing to sort out puke.gifpuke.gif

So cut the bolts off inside the wings and that obviously destroyed the filler top side but most of that will be sanded off againeusa_boohoo.gif. so i have now made some new mounting plates that will hopefully spread the load a bit better and stop the sheet metal moving as much.

but this meant the wings would sit too high on the existing hinge brackets so I had to make some new ones.

I will weld them in tomorrow and hopefully everything will be hunky dunky.

Right well I welded in the brackets and i couldnt get the thing set up right so I went back to the drawing board and made a set of ones which are pretty similar to the minitec ones

I dont have any photos of them because I am sick to the back teeth of the f^&king front end!!!! but it is now working.

the whole car is now in zinc primer

i am now getting the arches to fit perfectly with the help of some fibreglass filler
