Cut away the bins to inspect the rust think i'll need a LH inner sill

Took drivers side wing off to see extent of rust.  after looking at it I think i'm going to put a flip front like dave has done in his

Baghdad To Bolton thread.

found this ropey looking repair where they stuck a bit of metal behind the skin and welded it in then chucked a ton of filler in it!

So todays update

The plan was to replace the inner wing section

Attached File  527030_10151620602180748_1420360855_n.jpg   50.42K   16 downloads

on removing the old section inside the A post is pretty far gone and been patched so will need to sort that before doing inner wing

Attached File  1001716_10151620602410748_1507442376_n.jpg   37.11K   4 downloads

The floor had also been patched a couple of times so think i'll just put a new floor pan in it

Attached File  988270_10151620602645748_983235558_n.jpg   38.51K   4 downloads

Using a cutting disc like an aberdonian!!!!  Think I got my monies worth out of that one!

Last update for a while as I will be spending the rest of the week playing at Enduros with mmy friend KTM EXC then it's back to Uganda for 5 weeks.

most of the exterior is back to bare metal.  I'm waiting on my panels turning turning up so I started taking the inside back

Attached File  945991_10151635378870748_1579714364_n.jpg   76.51K   18 downloadsAttached File  1010009_10151635378755748_154582852_n.jpg   78.95K   13 downloads

Don't know why as it'll all be covered up, but if a jobs worth doing and all that.

Anyone know how the best way of removing the sound deadening from the rear quarter panels??

Heat gun and scraper, left mine on rho

cool (or not as the case maybe)  i'll give it ago, it's just annoying me as i will be putting dynamat or something on there and don't want the old stuff to affect the new  but i dont want to start putting dents and shiz in the panel so might end up leaving it on

Looking forward to seeing this complete :) keep up the pics

cheers dude I hope it will be as good as i think it will, a lot to do.  It just dawned on me this week how much i actually need to do!!!!  lots and lots then more lots!!!  at least i get a break from it every 5 weeks

best not to think of it as a whole mate, just tackle it stage by stage and before you know it you'll just look at it and all of a sudden it'll feel like it's coming together :)

new drivers side hinge panel

Attached File  1385420_10151738024940748_1499430120_n.jpg   26.92K   13 downloads

drivers side rear corner had repairs done to both sides of the seam

Attached File  1383747_10151738024205748_771155390_n.jpg   29.69K   9 downloads

and both boot hinge mounts done

All of it still needs to be sanded as I didn't have my compressor over there.

progress has been slow because my toy addiction got the better of me and I bought this beastie and under the influence of beer entered the Scottish Six Day Trial again!

Attached File  1379248_10151730961825748_1528514625_n.jpg   63.71K   17 downloads

and now the wife is forcing me to go to cuba for a couple of weeks! then I have a race on the enduro bike when i get back, then its off to uganda again. too many toys not enough time!

So today's antics

It has the dreaded oversills fitted

Attached File  1551685_10151914285690748_434512173_n.jpg   57.32K   14 downloads

so cut outer and inner sills out and repaired the floor in preparation for the heel board saga which will commence tomorrow.

Attached File  1524829_10151916007685748_195274549_n.jpg   67.8K   11 downloads

Attached File  1526366_10151916007770748_330632312_n.jpg   64.54K   9 downloads

Attached File  1545833_10151916007440748_413831161_n.jpg   63.21K   4 downloads

so set about cutting, grinding and making a new plate for the floor

Attached File  1538923_10151916007920748_327309871_n.jpg   42.21K   5 downloads
