Im not going to contact him, the more I go at him the more he will throw that number away. If he thinks he has got away with it and keeps that number then the police if they can be bothered, so something about it.

So I Am An Idiot.

Ouch. The police should be able to do some digging, but if you know the right people, its not too hard to obtain some fake docs, which would then let you create a bank account. If that is the case, I am sorry to say it would be quite difficult to catch anyone out.
If he has done this on a whim, there is a reasonable chance it is in fact his own bank account. Obviously there is nothing stopping him from emptying the account and disappearing never to be seen again. Realistically, it is easy enough to move house and not inform the bank. Another move after that should make it pretty hard, but not impossible to track him down. Of course, any phone numbers he has might well also be registered so don't forget to give these to the Police as well. Or failing that, investigate it yourself. There are ways to try and confirm the address etc.
If he has done this kind of thing before, or if he planned it, unless the police are quite pro-active, I would imagine it will be quite hard to catch the guy. You can pretty much guarantee all details he has given you are fake if he has planned it or done it before though.
I really feel for you, and I wish you the best of luck in trying to get it sorted. If there is anything you need, just post it up and I am sure people on here will help where they can.
I hope that everyone can take something from this - do not trust anything on the internet, unless you see it with your own eyes. Anyone can be anything they want. They can also lie through their teeth. And always remember, if something looks too good to be true, it probably is. While the internet is a great place to source things from, if you advertise that you want something thats fairly expensive, you will invariably find scammers out there. (OP - I'm sorry this doesn't really help you now)

That may be good for the OP, if this idiot is stupid enough to do it multiple times, even Plod will have to get off their backsides sooner rather than later.

Looks like he's been trying to scam other people using the same number over gig tickets. 21st May. It's a shame you didn't Google the number before sending the money really, it's something I usually try to do.
